Thank you for posting those photos! I think those look so much better in your photos than the original release pictures. Hope you had a great time at the event!

As an owner of the Green C63 GMT on a bracelet, I cannot recommend it enough. Probably my favorite watch in my collection, and it's gorgeous, so comfortable to wear, and so versatile and wearable on a range of straps.

There is a Youtube video where the reviewer commented that you could only see the red barrel from the back of the watch when the watch was off his wrist and the crown unscrewed. I wonder if he was reviewing a pre-production model? You can see the lack of red in the front and his comment at about 2:30 in the following Link to the video.

https://youtu.be/Zg6kARWOgAE
Hi Malcolm. If I remember correctly, the front of the barrel is partially red, while the back is completely red. So when the crown is screwed in, from the front you are seeing the "partial" red portion (the center of the barrel from the front is exposed stainless steel, that center part being covered by the crown when screwed in). I apologize in advance if I am remembering incorrectly though, as I confess I'm not entirely certain.

It is curious how the video link shows no red from the front, so perhaps that was a preproduction model.
Best regards,
John

Thanks for the comments and feedback! It's not going to be an easy day tomorrow trying to decide if I should buy the C63 GMT.

You’re a tougher person than me if you can stand chatting with the gang with the watch in your hand and decide not to buy!
Enjoy the day however it pans out.

Thanks for posting “in-the-metal” photos, that do make a difference to how the watches look.
I am being drawn more and more towards the Bronze version, but am still keeping my powder dry until I can either see one in the showroom, or until (hopefully) a black version is released.
Keep well,
C

Some great photos, thanks for sharing. I said elsewhere that the Aquitaine is not for me, but they do look great…I even like the bronze one!

^^^ @bident Thanks for the reply. Live pictures and your comments have moved the Aquitaine from a ‘no’ to a ‘maybe’.

I’ve seen a few comments from people about waiting for the sale. My hunch is that these won’t be available in the July sale as it’s too soon after launch. If they do appear, they’ll be in very small numbers.

Will be good to hear what you decide to do after your return to the event

Pretty much. Any that do appear will almost certainly be Nearly New items and I wouldn’t expect them to stick around for more than a few minutes. Items that appear in larger numbers (and up to 50% off)** are generally models that have been, are being, or are about to be discontinued. The vultures will be circling so it’s a case of “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may”.

Apologies for the dreadful mixed metaphors! Vultures don’t eat rosebuds.

If you want an Aquitaine the moment the best thing would be to use the voucher.

** There might well be some good pickings among the Mark 1 C65 Trident Diver range, as the Aquitaine is their replacement. That’s historically informed speculation, not insider knowledge.

I was watching how they made slight changes to hands, it’s even more apparent in these live pics. Minute hand is thicker in the middle and hour hand lost chamfer and became a bit duller

They certainly look much better in real life photos. Not my thing, but the single colour bezel+dial models are very nice.

Still don't like the white sand dial ones - I don't think they go well with the different-coloured bezel.

A bit nondescript for me. I like plenty of contrast between the dial and hands/indices. I must say, though, that the blue GMT looks a lot better than the green auto, but then I’m not a fan of green anyway.

Alex,

What do you think about the 6 o'clock index under the date window? Something was bugging me about it, and I finally realized it was because it looks like they just cut the top part of the index off without finishing the chamfer around it. It looks like they just stuck it on as an afterthought.

I looked at some other watches with 6 o'clock date windows and usually they either finish the chamfer around the whole index, or have no index. You can see some good examples if you look through the Non CW of the day thread. If you get a chance when you see the Aquitaine in the flesh again today, let me know what you think of this small detail. I've added a couple of examples to this post.

The green C63 GMT really caught my eye, though. CW is allowing the use of the $125 discount at the fair, plus I wouldn't have to pay for any import duties, which would be levied otherwise since the purchase price is over US$800. I'm heading back Sunday, so I have a day and a change to mull it over..... :?

Oh excellent! That's a very timely photo so thank you. Supplementary question, was the non-GMT C63 there and did you compare them on wrist?
