The middle ground between the two imho, would be IWC. In fact as im sat here waiting for my delayed train, freezing my little giggleberries off, im thinking IWC wins out (unless the lottery comes in).
I didn’t have you down as someone sensible Paul
IWC would be my choice as well for a one brand collection. In fact it’s the only brand in my current collection of which I have more than one.
Iain’s Law: Any discussion on the Christopher Ward forum, irrespective of the thread title or subject matter, will eventually lead to someone mentioning the Bel Canto if the thread continues for long enough.

Your first impressions are spot on there buddy. Im far from sensible but im 100 times more sensible than I used to be!
IWC just strike me as the exact middle ground between the two points and their watches are superb in every way.

If money was no object, Rolex would be the easy choice for me. Theres everything I need and want. And then some!!!
Would love to hear your ideal Rolex collection. While I'm a Rolex fan, I think I would really struggle if it was my 'one brand' since for me there's a few marks they don't hit.
I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 16 followers and counting!
I don't think it would be a good move to have a one make collection. Particularly not a brand that allows no third party parts or servicing. The thought of being beholden to that brand for all future servicing isn't great either.

That's partially correct, Chris.
It is true to say that CW will not supply parts to third parties, but most of their models have freely available movements that can be serviced independently. Only the SH21 and JJ calibre movements ought to be serviced by CW.

Aside one vintage Hamilton pocket watch, my collection is exclusively Christopher Ward. Since I entered the world of luxury watches about six years ago, I have bought fifteen Christopher Ward watches & have sold three of them. Some have mentioned that CW is currently putting out not much of a dress watch range to suit their tastes. Although I am sure that CW feels that they are addressing dress watches with their integrated Twelves, Bel Cantos & Moonphases, I understand the feeling. That is why I dipped into CW's back catalog on the secondary market this year & picked up a black dialed C1 Russell & a C9 5 Day Small Seconds. I think that a person would be hard pressed to find nicer, more classic dress watches than either of those for what I spent. Anyway, it isn't like I am not aware of other brands & what is available. An Ordain fume dialed watch has been of particular interest but the price going up every time that I check & the long wait list has discouraged me from going that direction. I have checked out the other brands but generally discover that it's going to take more money to buy a watch of similar quality to what I already own. Now, with a dozen Christopher Ward watches in my wearing rotation, it is coming down to a case of something needing to go out before I would add anything else. Like a lot of you, I have discovered that you can only wear about so many. Not saying that my collection will always remain a one brand collection, but I can't say that I feel deprived owning watches from a single brand either. It would be more likely that I will add a Bel Canto classic or some unknown as of now future CW release than another brand!

CW is one of the few brands I think I could totally live with as a one brand collection. But if I had to pick one, it would be Omega

Variety being the spice of life and all that, I don’t think I could ever stick to one brand, let alone one watch.
Money no object then possibly Rolex would be an option, maybe Omega as they both certainly have a broad range of fine watches.
CW could also fulfil the requirements, particularly if you take into account their back catalogue, with virtually all genres of watch nicely done across their 20 or so years.
