Yes; both the Phoenix and The Red One have a brushed, technical term is Galvanic, dial, with the brushing radiating from the centre of the timekeeping dial, not from the centre of the watch (if that makes sense).

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
Thanks, that's good to know. Another reason why high quality pictures and video are needed of the actual item. From the pictures posted the dial looks cheap and very flat with nothing exciting. The brushed/galvanic dial sold the watch for me so I'm hoping it lives up to the renders. I don't think it will be a big deal to me even if it doesn't though as I much prefer the Classic (though only going by the pictures I've seen. In hand it could be a different case).
Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
I should have been clearer.
For those of us that ordered, we get updates by video from Andrew. This is a screenshot from a video in which he wears it with white strap, black and bracelet. Hence it's a bit fuzzy quality. However, it is pretty representative as to how it looked in the video.
Studio lighting might have impacted on it of course. Honestly I'm all for blood red, dark red. I don't need it looking like a ruby in the sun. But it does look quite flat.
But that's also what put me off the purple. I loved it when it seemed darker, don't mind it getting all shiny and bright. But it looked quite flat in some lights, and less like a €4k watch.
We'll see. I was tempted to cancel, but with the 60 return option, that seems the best way to go!

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
Will be interesting to see how it compares to say the Omega Aqua Terra Terracotta Red
Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
I'd been obsessing over Bel Canto since I held off on the original blue one. The red aqua terra has been a watch I aspired to owning one day, even if used.
As such the red one seemed a perfect fit. We'll see.

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
If you get the chance it's worth seeing the Azzurro (Blue) OG vs the Azzurro on the Classic in person. The light plays with the blue quite differently assuming its the same blue .. The Galvanic finish seems to make the blue a lot flatter.
Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
By coincidence I notice Christopher Ward are at the Time and Tide London Studio (1st Floor, West, Portland House, 4 Great Portland St, London W1W 8QJ) on the 6th, 7th and 8th Dec. Which is where I saw both. Not quite side by side. The OG was locked in a cabinet display.
I assume they will have all the Classic variants there and the OG. I didn't see the new leather strap.
Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
Not actually such a big fan of the new classic models.
I find them too fussy with too much going on, each element of which could be the focus of its own.
Bel Canto OG with a bright or dark colour feels out there, a bit cyberpunk, a bit sporty, a lot about fun. The lighter colours more elegant.
The new one just screams ostentatious to me. The dials are cool - but for that to be the main event. And I can get pretty close with a Seiko pressage for €500.
Looking forward to the red one arriving. But it's not the end of the world if it's not for me. At least I will have scratched that itch.

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
Fingers crossed.
I mentioned the OG vs Classic because the dial colour application and materials looks quite different to me in person.
I think the OG is some sort of galvanic plating process.
I am unsure how the Classic got finished but looks a lot thicker and even across the whole plate.
The Aqua Terra from memory is some PVD process Omega has come up with. I think with a lacquer applied on top to make it more glossy.
That Moser I think is a multi-layered enamel with a hand-sprayed fume finish.
Unsure but I believe some of the Pressage models are enamel too.
Hopefully not long to wait for the Red one big reveal.

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
It works, but I don't think I've been getting the updates. From that video it definitely doesn't seem like it has the brushed effect on the dial and does look pretty plain/unexciting. I guess I'll just have to wait to see it in person.Moneypit wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 12:46 pm I should have been clearer.

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
In the end I cancelled my order. I came to realise all the doubts since I ordered were telling me something, that this watch indeed is as much about the dial as the mechanics, and I'd want a far deeper red, or far lighter like a pink grand Seiko. Or at least dial broken up with more than just silver - the beak and jewels helps this on the other models.
I still think the renders look really cool. But I think on someone else! I'm not sure I really want a slab of flat orangy-red on my own wrist with the subtlest of gradient.
One day a black one maybe, but no rush now.
Though I'd regret it, but feel more relief that I made the right decision.
That means there might be one going spare on the CW inventory if someone wants to try contacting them and asking about cancelled orders

Re: CW and Andrew Morgan Collab??
Quite a few brands seem to be issuing burgundy coloured dials recently.
I always liked the Black Bay burgundy and I think there is a recent issue from Omega of a two tone Aqua Terra with a Burgundy dial.
