Do you think the growing number of alternative colours will dampen resale values of the original blue and green options?

Up until now, the BC has never floated my boat.
I attended the CW preview for the blue dial, but I just couldn't get excited about it.

With 'The Red One', this is the first time my attention has been peaked. I always envisaged picking up a 2nd hand BC in years to come, at a discount, but I believe I will be placing an order for this one next week.

In which case, dear birthday boy, let us hope that "in years to come" and "placing an order for this next week" do not connect up with a long delivery wait but seeing that the present colours are currently "pre-order for md-December" it might be prudent to think about delivery in the New Year?

The production model doesn't have the green beak....they must have listened to you and hastily value engineered it out

I know you’re quoting, Guy, but…CW… if it’s available to anyone and there’s no limit on numbers, surely it’s not exclusive. Is it?

@Amor Vincit Omnia - this is true, Steve, unless the exclusivity is conferred by the limited period during which 'The Red One' may be ordered? :-k :-k

Does anyone know if the red dial on this is the same as the red dial on Andrew’s? The deep dark red with pronounced sunburst brushing in the CW pics looks amazing but the red in Andrew’s video and the pics above looks very flat and not that enticing. Is this a case where the studio pics and renders look nothing like it will in real life or are they actually different dials?

@Theartfulbodger - the dial on the Bel Canto is very much chameleon in character as can be seen from these three photos of my Phoenix under different light;-

I'm sure 'The Red One' will be no different.

Moreover, in Andrew Morgan's words on the link on CW's website, he implies (to me at least) that the colour of 'The Red One' is the same as his initial one-off;-

"But I felt kinda bad being the only one to have a Bel Canto in red. So, we decided to make more. For one week only, you too can get “The Red One.” And it’s not just the red that makes it special, although the red is, as I’m sure you’ll agree since you’ve taken the time to read this far, very special—there’s som."

Does that help?

I think the approach of a limited period to order, with one for anyone who wants is an excellent idea.😀

It is certainly one way to prick the balloon of those often attracted by a small LE run…

With no idea of how many will be ordered the Del Boy flippers will have difficulty in estimating how much they will be able to make when it turns out they didn’t “bond” with their unworn, never left the box new asset.🤣

@nbg Interesting analysis, Neil.

I have never really been party to the idea that desirability increases as availability diminishes. If I liked a watch and it was available in every branch of Goldsmiths or Ernest Jones, it wouldn’t worry me. If I didn’t like it and it was like fillings in hens’ teeth, I’d still have no interest.

I’ve tried a Bel Canto on and though I don’t dislike it, it’s not for me. Especially with a red dial. Much the same for certain much-vaunted dive watches (of various brands). I don’t really like dive watches, so I’m a spectator.

Enjoy the fun!

So, thus prompted, I visited EBay and searched for "Spectator watch"

There is, by the way, another red dialled BC exclusive currently in the air, the Porsche 911-linked "Kills Bugs Fast" variant: I like the dial, the case back rather less unfortunately so I have not, as yet, found the courage of a lion  .
