I went with the Lumiere of which I'm yet to own but probably will in time. I feel it elevated CW into another level of an everyday watch with premium design, materials and specs. If you compare it to watches of comparable build and features you can half your spend and come away with a great watch if you like the design.
The twelve x is certainly a close second, a real exercise in showing that high horology is available at an attainable-ish price point.

I can't wait to see further developments and how the above models evolve. I think that a few new colours and/or refinement in either could well push me into buying territory.

I voted for the Lumiere as in my opinion it represents a significant step forward for the brand and will resonate well with both current and future CW enthusiasts.

Hopefully that makes my voting clear. Oh, and it's the only one I like.

How to vote - the one which I enjoy wearing the most? The one which has the biggest perceived "technical merit or innovation"? The one which generates the most social media froth? The one which generates the biggest number of sales? The one which generates the biggest profit?

In the end I fell back on KISS or Keep It Simple Stupid and made my choice. 8)

It's the Lumiere getting my vote, as a clear intention of the future of the upper tier of what CW will be producing. I'd like to see different dials in the future and hope a mk2 will do that (and bring some further refinement like the crown guards).

The Twelve X is the one I'd buy, and does represent a fantastic showpiece for CW, however the brand's strength in volume will come from elsewhere.

It looks like the C60 Trident Classic will win the Forum Watch of the Year by a landslide. I do wonder about the lasting appeal of that one just in the same sense that I felt the Sapphire line of watches were a bit of a gimmick or passing fad. The indices give off a plastic or Lego block vibe. But, if people like them & the sales numbers are there, then the Lumiere probably deserves the watch of the year honors. I think the same argument can be made for the Bel Canto Classic. Just my opinion but the guilloche dial is a game changer. The technical ability to make it & the value that it represents takes the Bel Canto range to the next level. The C60 Trident Lumiere & Bel Canto Classic represent a maturity & evolution of existing design rather than a new concept such as the original Super Compressor or Sealander represented upon release. If I were voting for the 2024 watch that I did like enough to buy, it would have been the C63 Valour. Since that isn’t the criteria, I didn’t vote that way.

iain wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 9:11 pm I voted for the twelve. It’s not a watch that particularly appeals to me as I’m not a fan of skeleton dials, however this was CW shoehorning their in house movement in one of their more popular ranges and going to town with the whole design. It was intended as something of a halo model for their 20th anniversary and I think it achieves that.

The luminaire may have a titanium case and some fancy pants material but I see it as just a slightly different version of the pro range for me. However looking at the way the voting is going I can see not everyone agrees.
That’s a compelling argument for the Twelve over the Lumiere!

To be fair, I WOULD have voted for the ultra slim rose-gold hand-wound tonneau.

There was a problem. They didn’t make it.

Again. :(

Hello and merry Christmas from Germany!

I voted for this one:

Why? Actually, all the reasons have already been mentioned. Ultimately, the deciding factors were the design, the excellent readability and the weight. Once I put it on, it gets more wristtime than any of my other watches.

"feel will have the most significant impact on CWL, not only now, but in the future."

I've gone with the Bel Canto Classic. Why, compared to the leading protagonists?

Well; C60 Lumière is a fine watch, and the use of Globolight XP for the hands and indices is innovative plus points the way for future use, but it's another C60 Trident Diver.

The C12 X (Ti)? The C12 is a popular Sports watch, already available in Titanium, and the skeleton SH21, albeit modified and upgraded, was used in the C60 Concept. It's a fine celebration and Halo piece to mark CW's 20th Anniversary but doesn't offer the significant impact required.

Bel Canto Classic? The original Bel Canto, released two years ago, was a game changer and award winner for CW. The guilloche dial of the Classic, along with other specification changes, takes it forward and to the next level; not only now but for the future. It gets my vote.

There are lots of good choices, and plenty of good arguments for several watches.

I feel like the arguments being made are interchangeable for the most part! The same things can be said for the top 3 vote getters at this point. Each of them (bel canto classic, lumiere, 12x ti) have been impactful for the brand and will likely continue to be impactful moving forward.

Personally I feel the lumiere should be the winner, as it was a further departure from the norm than the others and also brought into play the globolite hands that I don’t recall seeing anyone else out there doing.

The bel canto has been hugely impactful and rightfully won the forum WOTY previously. I love the guilloche dial and other minimal changes, but it feels like just another bel canto with a slightly different dial.

The 12x ti is a marvel, but feels too close to basically a C60 concept in a 12 case. It’s been done before.

So that’s why I voted for the lumiere!

It might just be me, but I think if everyone voted this would be a closer race.

Plenty of time left!
