^ This is why I was surprised the forum limited edition wasn't a 300, given the shout out to the forum when it was produced. It is my personal favourite on that list.
But not the one I voted for. ;)

My personal favorite is the 36mm Sealander, but that didn’t enter my thoughts for even a minute. I love it, but it’s hardly a game changer for CW.

The 300 was announced at the very beginning of our process and was considered a candidate. In the end we felt that what we designed with the C63 was more special and would have wider appeal.

Andrew, I disagree about the 36mm. I think it was more important than people are giving it credit. The Bel Canto is definitely important but I think the biggest factor has just been as a marketing buzz (which is important but is it long term important?).

To me the release of the 36 showed that CW is now sweating the small details. It could have just been a scaled down version of the 39 but they didn't do that.

My vote went to the 36.

I think there could be an argument that anything with 'swish only' on the dial could be the release of the year. This is probably the biggest change to effect the company as a whole.

I'm not sure the Bel Canto is my personal favourite to be honest. That would probably be the 300. Then the more accustomed I get to the colours of the 36mm Sealanders, the more I like them, especially on the matched leather straps.

However in terms of industry and general perception of the CW brand I think it's hard to see past the Bel Canto as the watch of the year, and that was my pick in the end.

Two very excellent points there. Clearly, it was a big year for CW, regardless of what model we pick as CW of the Year.

Once upon a time in the far distant universe, there was a force of creation.

Many and varied were the creatures they created.

They caused to be creatures, large and small, quiet and loud, peaceful and aggressive.

To some gave they a long life, and others caused they to die before their time, sometimes to make way for other creatures that looked a bit like them.

And ere long did they delight in crafting fish by the million; they made black fish, blue fish, orange fish, fish that looked like other fish, fish that would have looked like other fish they made if they were still making them.

And then one day, the world stood still, and gasped in awe. For what they had created was no fish, no rabbit, no dog or deer.

They had created the tiger.

And that is why I am voting for the Bel Canto.

I haven’t a clue what you’re on about, Steve

But I respect your vote.

This looks to be the most predictable winner in years, even tho I hate it. Looks childish, a bird 😱

And that is why I am voting for the Bel Canto.

For some reason this line reminded me of a Dr Seuss book called "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

I voted the Bel Canto but it was between that or the C60 Trident Pro 300.
For me, the Bel Canto was the watch release that finally made me interested in CW (and I imagine many other watch enthusiast).

I'd always seen the brand over the years, but it was never enough for me to be drawn to the website. After the initial interest in the Bel Canto was sated, I started getting curious about the other models and the intriguing forum and collab into the release of the Trident Pro 300.

The sum of all great ideas into a very wearable (sub 12mm thick) and robust dive watch that I believe sets a benchmark for many other brands if they want to be considered.
My wife thinks I have a watch problem. I'm a glass half-full guy, I think of it as a healthy interest in horology ;)

Bel Canto is OK Computer and Aquitaine is Kid A. Bel Canto is revolutionary for the brand and is a departure from their regular output but Aquitaine is a better watch.

I am not accepting dissenting opinions at this time, thank you.

To be fair I’m not sure that’s a fair comparison, I wouldn’t class either watch as overrated nonsense.

This very much mirrors my own thoughts. The bel canto is brilliant and to be applauded but I don’t want one. However the 300 is a stunning thing and I bought one. I also bought all of the coloured 36mm jobbies and they too are just great little watches. I still voted for the BC

I don't fully relate, but it's at least partially accurate because I'm not buying either of them...

I assume that makes the Trident The Bends then. Both the best produced by Radiohead and CW, nothing weird, flashy or boring, just pure perfection with nothing wanting.
