CW 2 Watch Roll
Looks like CW also put out a new watch roll. Looks pretty decent. I ordered one so we will see. $55 is a really good price if the quality is there. I'll report back

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
I had noticed the new watch roll as CW advertised it as part of their Father's Day promotional emails. For $55, it really would be a good buy if it is of quality construction. I couldn't help but notice the manufacturing country of origin, which may be a factor in its price.

CW 2 Watch Roll
Are you just out of luck with a metal bracelet and one of these?
Edit: I think you could still use a metal bracelet, as long as it articulates enough for the watch to lay flat.

Thanks for posting Rich - I hadn’t spotted it.
I normally travel with watches in individual leather watch pouches, rather than the typical rigid 3 watch roll. I will be interested in your review when it arrives. I may well end up getting one.
It will probably be ok for most watches on bracelets - 1 head up and 1 head down in the slots. When in a normal leather pouch I always have a piece of leather between the case back and bracelet to stop rubbing and movement. Easy enough to cut a couple from an old belt to use as appropriate.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
I’ve got a leather 4 watch roll which I like a lot but it’s more than I ever carry so is used mostly for putting watches in the safe. I end up using individual pod type holders which are OK if I’m only carrying one watch but less so for multiple watches.
At £50 for what looks like a well thought out 2 watch roll it’s worth a try. I ordered one yesterday and just received the dispatch email so I’ll see what it’s like tomorrow.

I'll let you know how it goes. It could be tight with 2. We will see.MistaFroggyG wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 12:55 am Are you just out of luck with a metal bracelet and one of these?

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
My 4 watch roll from Convoy came with 4 patches for casebacks. I also have a 2 watch roll from Convoy that came with 2. I also use craft foam which works pretty well. I usually glue two sheets together to make it a little more rigid.nbg wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 8:55 am Thanks for posting Rich - I hadn’t spotted it.

I like the extra pouch for a strap and possibly a tool. I use the Worn and Wound tool that has capped ends.
I will let you know how I work out. Estimated Monday delivery.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
Mine has arrived and I'm pleased with it. Decent quality soft leather and the stitching seems good with no missed pieces or loose threads. For some reason it also comes with a matching single card holder which also has the embossed CW logo.
Here it is with a 39mm C63 on a bracelet, clasp undone, and laid flat, and a 38mm Metris on a strap plus a spare strap and springbar tool.

The three pockets are from left to right: 5cm/8cm/7cm wide and 9cm deep. The total depth up to the flap hinge is 16cm. The flap when closed completely covers and protects the upper open part of the pockets. With that content and the watches head-to-toe it folds very nicely without undue stretching and is about the size of a moderately sized women's purse.

With larger watches or ones that don't lie particularly flat it becomes a bit of a stretch. Here with two larger watches; a Seamaster on bracelet and a full size Aquis on its integrated rubber strap.

They fit OK but it's tight to close and bulges somewhat. Although undoubtedly it'll stretch with use.

Unlike other watch rolls that use a drawcord or lanyard to tie them closed this uses two press studs to close. This makes it look very neat but you've obviously got no adjustment for varying watch sizes or content. It seems like it's optimally sized for watches up to 41-42mm on conventional bracelet that'll lie fairly flat or straps/Nato's etc.
Where it's less than ideal will be for watches with integrated -bracelets or -rubber straps that don't lie particularly flat. Nevertheless, in all cases I think it'll work best if the two watches are stored head-to-toe as that'll spread the depth from top to bottom; and having spare straps/tools in the first pocket doesn't make much difference as it's clearly designed for that pocket to be full. That first pocket will comfortably hold two spare straps and a springbar tool.
For £50 I think it's pretty good and It'll get a lot of use as I'm away regularly and don't like carrying multiple watch pods. As a result I may now travel with more that one additional watch... truly a first world problem.
p.s. it come packaged in a 19x24cm cotton bag with a draw cord which I'm sure will be repurposed to store spare straps.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
Looks really good. I was curious what they meant by the card holder in the writeup. I was envisioning maybe storage for a warranty card or something.
I was thinking this was better described as a folio than a roll as it is really made to just fold into the same shape every time. Like you said first world!
Looking forward to getting mine in. Still shows delivery by Monday but sometimes I get them early.

Looks very good quality, the different sized slots shows an attention to detail (if it’s deliberate). I like it, and would consider buying one for it not the fact that I already have too many cases, pouches and rolls. Now, if this were offered as an alternative to the bamboo box, that would be definite yes for me. Practical & useful, good job.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
Having lived with mine for a couple of weeks I thought I would check back in here and give my thoughts.
I think it is priced right for what you get. It isn't a screaming deal by any means but not overpriced for what you get. The quality is very good. The leather feels a tad thin to me based on other quality rolls I have but not cheap.
The pouches are nice and roomy and I have no problem throwing in my 42 mm C60 on bracelet. There are some rolls I have purchased in the past where this was not the case. I can fit my C60 and C65 Super Compressor with no issues at all.
The upper flap could be a little longer. It rides up a bit when you have two watches in there and some straps.
The snaps close with a very positive click. They don't come loose in a bag even when the roll is full.
I really like the tobacco pouch style fold. Works really well for two watches. The strap pocket is a nice touch. I like the pebble texture a lot.
The only real con I can think of is that it really should have come with two leather patches for protecting the caseback from the bracelet. I used a couple of navy blue ones I have from another two watch pouch of a different design. I would have rather had these than the card pouch that came with it. It would have been about the same amount of material and they could have thrown the nice CW embossing right in the center of each one. That would have looked really good.
All in all not sorry I picked it up at all. The quibbles are pretty minor. Definitely worth the asking price.
Closed with the same two watches.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
I suppose one could simply cut the stitching on the card holder to turn it into two leather patches. Problem solved!

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
@jkbarnes I’d solve that by cutting out a couple of pieces of fine microfibre that would double as polishing cloths for travelling.
@rkovars Excellent review, thank you.

Re: CW 2 Watch Roll
Believe me, I thought about that but I am pretty certain there a pieces that are glued together as well as stitched. It would be a mess I am sure!

The card holder is currently housing a couple of warranty cards (in the same drawer in my big watch box that they have always lived in).
