Re: Customer Services downsizing ?
In my view whilst there were posts that you may well have taken to be "#2 in tone", they were generally points being made by forum members who were "#3" and who care about the company. Just saying.fishman wrote:I just remember reading a number of posts that had the #2 tone as I recall. It made no difference to me as people can say what they want, but it seemed some folks were just trying to stir the pot and rather enjoyed it. As a result, I check in with the forum infrequently now and do so only when I'm doing research on a particular watch or have a watch question. This helps me avoid the superfluous chatter not germane to my needs. The forum can be a source of helpful information as long as used properly.

Re: Customer Services downsizing ?
Neil, as a recent member of the forum I, and other newbies, don't have the history or relationship with CW that the other members have obviously. Personally I joined the forum to get information about CW watches as well as other brands. Before I joined, I researched a number of different threads and found the discussions remarkably free of invective comments and very collegial actually with knowledgeable posts. So, when all this vitriol erupted it was very disappointing, for me at least. These types of social media platforms have a tendency to devolve over time into the kind of behavior recently witnessed following the CW website upgrade and rebranding. Hopefully the acerbic and #2 type comments will subside over time and the forum can reclaim its collegial and friendly format, which was somewhat unique, where members can exchange information and become better educated about watches. This will be helpful to all of us newbies who just want to learn about watches in general and CW watches in particular. If that doesn't happen then so be it and we'll just move on. I can assure you that I wasn't the only newbie who was wondering just what in the world was going on. Quite frankly this recent dustup was not the forum's finest hour.nbg wrote:In my view whilst there were posts that you may well have taken to be "#2 in tone", they were generally points being made by forum members who were "#3" and who care about the company. Hi fishman
As you say, this is a friendly forum, where people will offer advice and info to help others and I am sure normal service will be resumed, so please stick around.

Re: Customer Services downsizing ?
As Neil says, it IS a friendly forum. However, it is an Internet forum – a place to discuss things. Sometimes the discussions get a bit heated; if you ever watch broadcasts from Parliament you will know what I mean. People have a rant, they express themselves, they give their opinions, sometimes in fairly strong terms. And yes there are other people who are a bit cynical and play it for laughs. Mea culpa again.
As others have frequently said, compared to SOME watch fora (and other fora dedicated to other hobbies/passions) this one sometimes seems a bit like an episode of Teletubbies and Ned Flanders Visit Pooh Corner with Moley, Ratty and Badger making a special guest appearance. Some days I just prefer Game Of Thrones. And yes, it will return to normal – that's usually a sign not much is happening. No new branding, no new marmite watches, no FLE processes and definitely no sales. Fortunately it doesn't last long.

Of course Steve you're quite right that this is an internet forum for people to discuss things and I understand that. And yes I have seen Parliament broadcasts which are full of rants etc. As I stated earlier in this discussion, I joined the forum for the purpose of getting better educated about watches, not to engage in incendiary behavior or ranting. I've received some excellent information on watches from actual owners which has been very useful. For example, I believe you wrote about your purchase of the Cartier Tank Solo which I found very helpful. As a result of the posts and photos the Tank Solo is on the top of my list for acquisition. I certainly don't begrudge you or anyone else the right of free expression on this forum, but my reasons for joining are perhaps a bit different.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:As Neil says, it IS a friendly forum. Back to the original topic, I got an email today in relation to my C11 Titanium Elite from Billy Evans from Customer Service so it seems they are back on track staff wise.

Great to hear the forum is helpful fishman, that's the general idea.
You just happen to have joined at a period where this whole mess has unfolded. Rest assured, even those of us who may be guilty of some 'incendiary' posts on the subject of recent events are generally here for much the same reasons as you. You'd get pretty bored on this forum if you were here for serious arguments and fallings out, it just doesn't happen.

An excellent post and a very sane rationale. And good luck with the Tank quest. They are wonderful!

Re: Customer Services downsizing ?
You're welcome. I have you to thank for reminding me of the iconic nature and beauty of the Cartier Tank. Actually years ago I owned a Tank Francais, but ultimately sold it so, your posts and excellent photos were a welcome reminder about an old friend. I think the Solo xl is a better fit for my needs now anyway. Of course I love the black leather band, but it also comes with a steel bracelet which gives a more casual, but still elegant, look to the watch. Don't tell anyone, but really I'd like to own both! Some might say that would be conspicuous consumption. However, I prefer to call it an exercise in good taste which, afterall, is just another form of good manners! Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:An excellent post and a very sane rationale.
