Christopher Ward logo

Post by hrlloyd28 »

I personally think Christopher Ward should bring the text back on the dial. Like many other brands, I think Christopher Ward should be stated on the dial in a clean legible small font directly under the twin flags logo. I know Christopher Ward is a lot of text but if Vacheron Constantin (18 characters) can do it, then Christopher Ward (15 characters) can. I think this would help brand their watches better. CW will likely have to shrink the logo a bit and maybe the indices to have the space to do so but if done right, which I'm confident CW can do, it would look great. Thoughts?

This has been discussed ad nauseam on the board. I am not sure there would be anything new to discuss about the logo.

CW only started the transition in 2022. I don't think given the time and effort that went into the rebranding that they will reverse course any time soon. I also don't think they have a problem. Everyone seems to know a CW when they see it.

I agree to be honest. I like to see the name. Raymond Weil (12 characters with the space) seem to use a much smaller font, and their name brane is smaller, and fits easily in a chronograph subdial.

For those readers that might not be aware, it may be worth studying the details of CW's Logo Evolution over the last 20 years, as found in the CWArchive.

For what it's worth, I personally, have never had any significant feelings for or against the Logo used by CW, and I find the current 'Twin Flags' one clean, simple, and agreeable.

If it ain't broke; why fix it. :-k :-k

Worth having a look at the second hand market - there are lots of CWs available with their namesake on the dial.

I know this has been beaten to death - i love the logo and frankly most people now identify the brand with that logo. No need to change it.

I own CW’s with the full name logo at the 9 o’clock & 12 o’clock positions. My newer Christopher Ward’s have the twin flags logo. While I liked having the full name logo & recognize other brands use their full name moniker on the dial, it always seemed to be a problem & source of complaint with many of their customers. Now that I have CW watches with the twin flags logo, I can’t say that it has bothered me. The dials have a simpler, less cluttered look & seems to be overall popular if one looks at sales numbers. I just bought a C60 Trident Pro 300 Bronze & it has the full Christopher Ward name nicely displayed on the rotor & visible through the exhibition case back. So, for those that want the full company name on their watch, they are still getting it in a way on many of the models.

It’s a no from me. Having seen all the various logo changes come and go, I’m pleased that they have recently settled on something simple, neat and identifiable.

Yet the Bel Canto, which some might argue put CW in the spotlight, had neither the CW name nor the logo.

As you are a recent member maybe you're not aware of the discussions in past years or the thousands of posts that have proceeded your topic. It's been discussed to a point of severe boredom to long standing members.

Some previous forms of the logo were only better or worse than others depending upon individual views. As it is now is fine - "it is what it is".

I'm not buying watches at present but 1 that I like is the Sealander GMT and if I really wanted to buy 1 then I'd try to find it with the name on rather than the twin flags - For me it just looks better on that model. However I'd be quite happy to buy other different CW watches with the present twin flags on the dial.

I agreed with the OP way back in 2021 when the Swish started making its way onto dials. I thought it looked too sparse and unfinished.

But I’ve since gotten used to it. I like the swish only. And I don’t think it would be good for CW to change logo again. It’s gotta be the swish and swish only, forever and always.

I do however miss the constant bickering about the logos  For arguments sake, here’s a little mock-up I did back in 2021.

It has the twin flag logo on the crown
However I am so glad they didn`t but any text or logo on the dial itself
