Greetings,

It is still relatively new, I'm not sure how many are out there.

New watch, new logo, forget a 50% sale.

If you are lucky an NN may pop up soon!

Incidentally it takes from empty to full power reserve 196 turns of the crown - sounds a lot, but only takes a couple of minutes.
PR of five days proven. Top notch.

However, in round figures, needing 40 turns per day for winding seems overly high.

I'd have thought the movement could have been geared for 10 - 15 turns, 20 maximum, per day; particularly as this is then multiplyable by 5 days.

I have a 1950s hand wind that only needs 10 turns per 24 hours.

Just a thought.

It's a valid point re 40 turns per day of power - I'll see how many it takes next time as the human factor probably comes into it, although I plan to keep it ticking away and give it a boost every few days.

What I do like and prefer over the Trident COSC is the power reserve gauge, so you know exactly where you are and you can see the dial move slightly with each turn which is strangely addictive. Incidentally when it's full, you really do feel a change in the resistance when winding, which is a good thing and CW do warn you not to overwind for obvious reasons.

Possibly, but I checked before the latest batch arrived and they had none returned as I would have taken one with 30% off!
My serial number is in the thirties, so not many about and to be honest if and when a deal is to be had I don't mind because I was happy to pay the price, which I believe didn't go up last month and I could use the £100 voucher, which you couldn't before XMAS.

My biggest concern is the coating on the black watch case. In another thread on this forum it was/is discussed how this watch case might be quite prone to getting marked up/banged up by use. It's too expensive of a watch to be getting all marked up and then you wonder if its just a rare or common problem. You mentioned using it as a daily wearer, have you read the other thread on this watch.......... any thoughts?

I would LOVE to see this watch in a brushed stainless finish.

Apparently, a steel version is coming, but I suspect it will be blasted not brushed (as all the other C8 variants are blasted). However, personally, I would prefer a brushed finish.

It's a kind of matte finish to the steel, created by it being sand-blasted with fine grains of sand (or similar). It's the standard finish on the steel C8s.

The problem with it is that it's hard to disguise scratches, whereas brushed cases can have scratches brushed out (or polished cases can have scratches polished out).

It's commonly called a "bead blasted" finish.

Any idea when the steel version is likely to happen, as I've not heard about that before.
I'm happy with my black version, with no signs of scratches or marks so far, although I don't wear it constantly.

"Spring" according to what Chris Ward told a forum member (can't remember who) at Salon QP last November.

Thanks for that.

Without creating a photoshop mockup, I guess we can turn to the C8 UTC which offers both finishes. Personally for looks I would go for the black case, but I know steel is probably more practical in the longer term, especially if it's a daily.

For this particular watch, I agree that the black case is probably the better looker in my eyes - certainly based on the C8 UTC options.
