You will pay a lot more from other manufactures for the movement, and the jump hour with constant torque is unique.Mortis wrote:I actually think the styling is okay (terrible prit-stick logo aside) but the addition of a little module to a basic 2824 in a £400 watch which adds three quarters of a grand to the cost is what makes it a poor prospect for me.

Re: C9 Jump Hour is hot
It may look good for some, but I'm a purist. I love watching the hands on my automatics go round and round and round and round....I do have a speedometer dial watch by Stauer that has both hours and minutes on a dial moving past a fixed point on the little window. While the jump hour is light years beyond that, and not really my style, it is a good looking and unique watch. Certain to draw attention, I'd say.

It is quite funny in the latest magazine, where the couple are reviewing certain CWL watches and the chaps says that the Jump Hour 'is even easier to read than a conventional watch' REALLY??? with Roman numerals in the hour window?? His mind works in a seriously weird way!

I'm on record as saying that I quite like the Jump hour, but I must agree I can't see it as being easier to read. I s'pose it gets easier as you get used to it, but it's still a question of combining a digital readout (in a foreign script) with a analogue hand. Doesn't sound easier to me either.highway62 wrote:It is quite funny in the latest magazine, where the couple are reviewing certain CWL watches and the chaps says that the Jump Hour 'is even easier to read than a conventional watch' REALLY??? with Roman numerals in the hour window?? However, as I've said in other parts of the forum, there are far more difficult and astonomically more expensive ways of not being able to easily tell the time.

I guess I'm in the minority here on the forum, but if I had the cash, I'd buy the jump hour. It's pretty unique and fascinating, in my opinion. I do agree, though, that the logo looks like it was just stuck on. Maybe it looks better in person.

Re: C9 Jump Hour is hot
I don't know squat about watchmaking, but I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the jump hour module exceeds the cost of the base movement. Millions of 2824's versus 200 modules. There is a big piece of the price increase. The dial, like it or not, is also far more complex than a 400 quid watch. Add in the development costs being spread across only 200 watches, and I can start to see where the price comes from. It's outside my budget, and larger than I would wear in a dress watch, but I like it, and I think it will sell.Mortis wrote:I actually think the styling is okay (terrible prit-stick logo aside) but the addition of a little module to a basic 2824 in a £400 watch which adds three quarters of a grand to the cost is what makes it a poor prospect for me.

Funnily, I disliked the new chr ward logo that is being introduced but when I see the logos on the jumping hour, it just does not look right. Maybe the simpler chr ward would.........

A whole spectrum of comment here. The jump hour is worth the money but MK 2 will be worth more.

Yes, but I don't think it would have the same apeal with standard numbering.Yoda wrote:I am very impressed with the jump hour. I wish they had not used Arabic numerals though.

Re: C9 Jump Hour is hot
To me, a slight imbalance in appearance. Maybe if it had a small second hand dial at the bottom, 6 o’clock position. I agree about the CW logo. It would look better with the original logo. Aside from that, I can’t see it being the most expensive of all the others. Will it sell to be worth the production costs? Good question.Lavaine wrote:I don't know squat about watchmaking, but I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the jump hour module exceeds the cost of the base movement.
