Since we've trashed this thread (sorry OP), when I'm thinking about swapping suppliers, how do I know how much monthly limit I need? Is there a way to tell from my router how much I've used in the recent past? (Currently, we have 'unlimited' with AOL).ianblyth wrote:My girlfriend was on AOL and looking to consolidate she went woth Sky as they TC, phone and broadband package were good. As you see you can use AOL on any computer with a browser. She was worried about that. The switch over was extremely smooth. They did all teh work and you may lose your copnnection for an hour when you do the switchover but that is it. The other thing is if you use wireless. Modern ADSL routers have much faster and better wireless and are generally more secure.
On GMT I have a few. One that jumps per hour and one that goes around smoothly. I prefere the smooth version but in general I do not find GMT that useful. Even when I am abroad.

Re: C9 GMT
I have Orange "unlimited", but that means 40gb a month. We blow that easily every month, so we get slowed down 18:00- 24:00, but I don't notice much effect.

Re: C9 GMT
downer, I thought AOL (since they became TalkTalk / Carphone Warehouse) put a 60GB per month limit on anyway?
(And they have throttling, limits, etc. for non-LLU exchange customers, which you say you are)

Re: C9 GMT
As I said earlier, my exchange is not enabled for LLU, so all those deals are not available to me....apart from the BT one..JAG wrote:http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/partn ... nd-uk.htmldowner wrote: how do I know how much monthly limit I need? Take a look at that downer

I think they may have put a limit on for new customers, but my deal is ancient. I've been paying the same for years - although they now want to increase it....Mortis wrote:downer, I thought AOL (since they became TalkTalk / Carphone Warehouse) put a 60GB per month limit on anyway?

I rarely notice any degredation of response times to be honest...I may be being throttled, but if I can't tell, it probably doesn't matter.

Nah, downer is on some ancient exchange out in Betley. He is right that 2 or 3 mbps is about his limit, and no chance of cable!
http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/non-l ... dband.html lists a few, I suppose.
If you are an O2 customer they will sell you something very cheap, and they are renowned for good customer service.
Ah well, I suppose you pay the price for living the dream (in the sticks).
EDIT: Typo

Re: C9 GMT
+1 on Virgin. Only positive feedback from my experience with then. They even knocked c. £60 of the installation costs due to a misunderstanding on my part! Speeds are v. good.Mortis wrote:Well, I can make no guarantees, but I really doubt it would be any worse! The switchover should be extremely smooth and easy. If you are in a cabled area I cannot recommend Virgin enough from my own experiences for broadband purposes. You really do get the speeds they claim! If you're sticking with a BT line then do some Googling, but I know some mobile companies will give you decent speed broadband for next to nothing (O2 are apparently quite good on this, but Orange allegedly have poor customer service).

Re: C9 GMT
Rather depends on which US zone you are after. Eastern is GMT-5, Pacific is GMT-8.JAG wrote:Back to the GMT hand on my C60 if i want to set it to the US time zone what should i set the red GMT hand to as dead confused
eg: if it is 11am in the UK (we are currently GMT+0) and you want to monitor New York (or Kip, just north of Boston, RustyinRochester...) set the GMT hand to 6 on the GMT, 24h track (3 on the 12h )
If this doesn't help...

HI Everone
I only discovered CW watches recently and, once finances improve, am thinking of buying one.I really like the "Harrison" watches and also some of the sporty models.Sadly,I couldn't wear them because I have really puny wrists, anything with a case diameter above 40 mm looks ridiculous on me.I dislike the trend among some watchmakers e.g Panerai,IWC,to make dress watches in gargantuan case diameters without offering smaller alternatives.I sincerely hope Christopher Ward are not going in the same direction.

Re: C9 GMT
I too have small wrists but to be honest I have a C8 pilot and even that doesn't look bad. With the 60/60 guarantee you can always try and see what a C9 looks like and send it back if it doesn't suit. You don't say where you are but if in the UK it easy to return it.Slonukhi58 wrote:HI Everone
