Putting aside the expensive chunk of metal, the watch itself is an absolute mess

I'm quite happy with CW knocking out these scrapheap challenge models if the lucre they bring in support R and D for future affordable mainstream models.

Irrespective of any historical context, I think the dial design is a mess. It really leaves me cold. You need to be a real expert to get the screws, the grey bit, the red bit and the texture bit. A classic example of where less would be more.

Every time CW launch a TMB scrap metal watch, the forum vibe is generally full of comments of “not for me at that price”, even if the look of the watch is appealing. However CW wouldn’t produce them unless there was the demand, albeit from a niche audience.

Back to an assessment of the look of this watch, regardless of cost - a cheap looking muddled mess of a dial, with parts bin hands. YMMV.

Except the dial is a pretty faithful replica of the Rev Counter on Bentley 4 1/2 litre (supercharged) No. 1 Birkin Blower

Sorry Neil.

As already stated, the dial is a faithful replica of the Rev Counter on No 1 Blower Bentley; what it looks like as a watch is immaterial.

As for the 'parts bin hands'? From which parts bin have they come? Certainly not CW's as I can't recall seeing them on any other CW watch.

With respect, if it was a faithful replica should it not say 5 instead of 05?

Fair point Scooter.

Looks better in real life, as usual.

That's one hell of a statement! The hands aren't a faithful representation though (apart from the second hand) as they don't exist on the rev counter

As I said Guy - YMMV.

To me it is irrelevant that it’s faithful replica of xyz, as I think it looks a mess! :)

It was obvious it was based on something to do with the car, but that still doesn’t mean it holds any attraction to me as a piece of wrist wear!

Parts bin hands - I just meant they look a mishmash that don’t belong together and to me look odd.

If others think it’s the best thing since sliced bread, that is also fine.

It would be a boring hobby, if we all liked the same watches.

There are niche CW watches produced in the last few years that I like, e.g. a couple of the Morgan’s and the LE that you recently bought. This just isn’t one of them!

Sorry Guy, but your comment on a watch forum must rank as the quote of the year. :D

I’ve been racking my brains to come up with some words to provide constructive criticism of this thing, but I can’t find any - its a mess, pure and simple.
