C700 Bracelet Problem - Advice Please!

Post by welshlad »

Got my new C700 on Friday and I'm absolutely loving it so far. It's far more striking in the flesh than in the photos.

However, I've noticed a problem with the bracelet this afternoon. One of the shoulder links is loosely flapping away from the case. It's very easily pulled away with a fingernail. Here's a pic:

I'm away on holiday at the moment without my watch tools so I can't easily remove the bracelet myself. So what I'd like to know is whether this is easily resolved by refitting the bracelet or whether something more serious is wrong. If it's the former then I'll pop in to a jewellers tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

It could be as simple as one end of the spring bar is not in properly.

Yeah, springbar not fitted properly, careful the watch does not fall off your wrist before you can get it fixed.
No more Quartz (except when I cannot resist).

C700 Bracelet Problem - Advice Please!

Thanks guys. The spring bar seems to be in ok, but is leaving too much room for the end link to move. I'm wondering if either the holes are in slightly the wrong place or whether the bracelet end link is not quite the right size.

Is this a problem that people have heard of before?

I would think it is very unlikely there is a problem with the hole positions or the size of the end link (not saying it is not possible, just very unlikely). It is far more probable that there is a problem with the springbar - it could be bent or not quite engaged at both ends.

I would go along with the springbar issue. Most likely bent and needs replacement.

Popped in to a jewellers today and they agreed that it is likely a bent spring bar, but they didn't have a strong enough replacement to fix it. They suggested sending it back as it's so new. As I think one of the other links is a bit too loose too then I think I will indeed return it to CWL when I get back from hols to get a replacement bracelet. It's a shame cos I really love the watch, it's a beauty!

A quick update. I returned the C700 to CWL when I got back from holiday and they have agreed to replace it - both the watch and the bracelet. Hopefully it should arrive by the weekend.

Fingers crossed!

The only problem I've had in the meantime is that my wife inadvertently found the invoice for the C700! :problem: :-o

What if I need to choose between keeping the C700 and keeping my wife?!

I'll need to weigh up the pros and cons. At least the C700 has a 5-year guarantee....

...and in a few years it can be made like new with an overhaul for a lot less than overhauling the wife.

Well, it arrived today, as planned. And the new one looks great - and so far there are no bracelet problems!

Now, as soon as my C6 returns from the CWL doctors, all will be right with the world again. :)
