Re: C65 trident classic in the summer magazine
As the have the C60/C61 maybe the C65 will get a C66.

Re: C65 trident classic in the summer magazine
i wasn't nitpicking just to bash on the watch......the lume is to make sure that the watch is functional during dives....especialy night and low light ones....but let's not derail the thread....i'm a desk diver....gwells wrote:i have used the C60 to time my dives many time before, no problem. i guess i might have issue on a safety interval on a night dive if i'm being true to the second, but as far as the tables go, you're timing in minutes, not seconds. so i'm perfectly comfortable with recreational diving with my C60.
but a bezel? we're not talking about nitpicking an ISO spec, we're talking about an actual missing tool. you can't safely time accurately without a bezel. it's just a "sport" watch now.
My complaint actually is that they took their most know watch, a diver, and turned it into a non diver.....they did nothing else as to took the bezel off (the pip is part of it).....the moved date is a minor thing since the C60 does have a date also...
They took the watch that they are most known for(at least from my experience), again, a diver! and made it dull IMHO. If you wanted to make a new style (more AT like it has been said) plz make a new model or actualy change it!!! Same case is ok if you had changed the hand, dial, bezel and maybe even bracelet.....As far as i know i can make a C65 out of my C60 with a knife poping out the bezel....i'm pretty sure i can find online a spare part that look like the new bezel.....
Supercompressors, as i suggested, make a more classy line of dive watches and i think it would be a winner, like the LLD and JLC ones..... it would be a SuperTrident
I usualy don't come here to bash and prefer to stay shut if i don't have nice things to say but i could not help to give my 2 cents.....to me this is not a new model, it's just a diferent "colour" of C60 bezel, Chrome colour.....even more if they are updating the C60 and moving the date like the drawn on the magazine.
Cheers,
Sifion.

Re: C65 trident classic in the summer magazine
Sifion, your points are all valid, and we don't know CWLs plans for the future, they might choose to do something like that...
for now though this is about maximising turnover / profit for the company from each model - there is a cost to the company for each genuine new model in R&D - and then potentially another cost in takeup lag as people get used to it etc. - it makes sense therefore in parallel to any development to maximise the options on the known and popular watches - it is no different to BMW taking the 3 series and making a convertible / a saloon / an estate / a coupe / an M3 / etc. etc. - the car manufacturers are experts at doing this - CWL is only applying the same logic to their watches...
so it doesn't mean that this watch is instead of other new watches - it just means that here is a space in the line-up some customers will like it and buy it - lets sell it... other new watches will come along as well...

I'm thinking that the C5 slimline should really be nicknamed the "tubby" as it's not particularly slim!Berkshire wrote:I'm thinking the C5 skinny satisfies that market.JamesH wrote:Wish they had been a bit braver and made it smaller rather than following the current trend.Berkshire wrote:42 mm.

In proportion to the 40 mm case it's slim. I doubt anyone will be disappointed with their purchase.

Re: C65 trident classic in the summer magazine
Ahh... I'm trying to get my numbers sorted. Given that my slimmest watch is 12mm then yes. I must take that back.... this one ( the slimline) is a svelte little number!

They have changed the dial at least using long batons instead of round markers and moving the C60 date to 3 as so often requested.Sifion wrote:i wasn't nitpicking just to bash on the watch......the lume is to make sure that the watch is functional during dives....especialy night and low light ones....but let's not derail the thread....i'm a desk diver....gwells wrote:i have used the C60 to time my dives many time before, no problem. i guess i might have issue on a safety interval on a night dive if i'm being true to the second, but as far as the tables go, you're timing in minutes, not seconds. so i'm perfectly comfortable with recreational diving with my C60.

The magazine states that the C65 should be available to preorder in May for July delivery.

Re: C65 trident classic in the summer magazine
Oh crap, was so annoyed at the whole thing that i missed it. Point for CW then. I hope that the final product is further away from the existing C60.chrisw wrote: They have changed the dial at least using long batons instead of round markers and moving the C60 date to 3 as so often requested.
Yeah, i think this might just be the case. Then again BWM took some heat when they came out with the M4, "it's just a 2 door M3" "why make it a new model"...like i have seen people talk.akirk wrote:Sifion, your points are all valid, and we don't know CWLs plans for the future, they might choose to do something like that...

My worry (probably unfunded as i know 0 about running a company) is that they might be stretching the C60 platform (let's call it that) too far that people will not have any interest on it anymore......as it get more and more colours/sizes (but like i said 2 sizes is a good thing)/variations like the C65. It does start to lose a little identity...hope it stops on the C65.
It's like people say, when you try to please everyone one you end up pleasing no one.....
Anyway, opinion given and i might be getting too carried away on the rant, so rant over, sorry for the long posts.
Cheers,
Sifion.
