Re: C65 Super Compressor

Post by exHowfener »

Just got back off holiday to find my copy of Loupe waiting for me. I'd seen the 'super compressor' on the website and i think it looks great. I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the spare cash.

Regarding the WR - I thought I had misread "150m" at first, I was expecting something really outstanding from the technology, especially after the C60 elite at 1000m. I know, I know - I'll NEVER need, or even get chance to use, that kind of WR. I'm not a diver, I swim in the sea in UK waters and to be honest I don't ever NEED to wear a watch in the water at all (so usually don't).

The Vostok Amphibia comparison made me smile - it really is the 'Top trumps' of any watch discussion isn't it? (My two keep really good time too ...)
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

How can they work on a watch so long, shoot marketing campaigns, handle and check the units and not notice the error? If is even on the front of Loupe to see without any difficulty! Customers may not look closely under magnification or study every detail but I expect CW do, and should. If not, what else is missed?

If it has been identified and then released anyway that in my opinion is letting the customer down. Will they make clear when the new batch is released so that people who do want to buy one can do in confidence that it is correct?

Would I buy one? I like the watch, but no. I just don't have the same trust in the brand as I did 2-3 years ago and despite some brilliant releases they appear to spend more time on spin and nonsense than treating the customer as number one. Instances like this are frustrating as I genuinely wish they did not happen so that my faith in CW can be restored to where it once was and I can spend a reasonable amount of money on an item without thinking it is likely to cause a headache.
Exactly! Brilliantly put.
Four CWs and too many others to list!
And loads of clocks.
And bicycles.

There seems to be far more concern over the alignment of the text within forums and social media than CW is actually getting feedback.

That said...according to CW...
Should anyone wish to have their current dial changed for a correctly aligned one we will be more than happy to swap them over once the new dials have arrived. They should send an email to Vallen (vallen.hardy@christopherward.co.uk) who will be in touch to arrange things at the appropriate time.
The next batch of dials for the Super Compressor will arrive in approxinately 6 weeks.

Where is the extract taken from? Is it on their website or gone out to all those already purchased?

Interesting discussion about the alignment problem. It took me quite a while to understand the error. It wouldn't bother me to have this with the "misprint".

It'll be interesting to see whether they make reference to the alignment when they hit a NN sale - most likely it'll be lucky dip whether you'll get misaligned or not unless they retro fit the correct dial to all returns, which seems unlikely.

Good on CW - did the email go to all purchasers or just those that have raised the issue?

Regarding lack of feedback to CW, I guess it's probably not surprising. Clearly, quite a few people haven't noticed it and may never notice it. It's early days.

Others may notice and not care, so won't give feedback.

Others, like me, have noticed it and won't buy one (in part) for that reason. But I'm not about to send CW an email about the issue either.

Good to see them taking action anyway despite limited feedback, though.

Yes, I just wasn't clear if he meant a personal email to Kip or a personal email to purchasers. (I assume the former but would hope for the latter.)

I didn't receive an email regarding a trade or dial swap. I did correspond with Vallen about returning my Super Compressor, but this wasn't mentioned. Mine was mailed back this morning by DHL (I live in the states) I'll be happy to purchase another one (with the corrected dial) when they are in stock, but I'd want some assurance I was getting a new dial variant.

^^^^ There was no email regarding a dial swap. this information just came out this morning. That is why is was not mentioned.

I have no idea if CW is planning an email to buyers or not, but in the meantime an email to Vallen Hardy per my prior post will advise them of your preference.

The watch is still for sale on their site, no mention of any manufacturing defect...
