To be fair, I’m not sure the £10 charge to resize a bracelet is a recent introduction. I bought a mk2 trident not long after they were introduced and I paid to have the bracelet resized back then.

Oh, IIRC from previous posts on the CW forum, I understand that the chap who first quoted my post in this thread has occasionally dived whilst wearing a DateJust.

I'd do it again, though I don't own a Rolex at present - they mean what they say and engineer appropriately.

I think they are cracking watches. The c65 range continues to impress.

I have to say it's the first of the C65 range to really pique my interest, having at various times taken a liking to a Longines Heritage Legend Diver or Alpina Seastrong Heritage. The first of those on the mesh strap is still on my wanted list, and while I'm not sure the C65 would replace it, I really quite like the slightly relaxed, un-dressy aesthetic of the blue version. It seems to be another example of a new CW with a lot going on but which hangs together quite well.

Vostok Amphibias - also compression cases, but not super compressors - are rated at 200m. They were issued to Soviet navy divers, so probably adequate for recreational diving!

I am tempted by the Super Compressor....

Worn & Wound review:

Some real photos which present it in a better light. The black dial looks nice and the white bezel doesn’t look as intrusive as I think it does on the CW website mages.

They sure are..... Their movement tolerances are hilarious though -45 to +60 SPD ImageImage

Super easy to regulate.

As for the CW C65 super compressor, I LOVE how they put on a display caseback to show the compressor mechanism. Super cool.

"The technique has been used by a range of watchmakers including IWC, Tissot, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Girard-Perregaux and nearly 100 more, but it became unnecessary as precision engineering made cases waterproof without it."

£1k is a lot of money for a purely marketing gimmick.

Maybe it's a gimmick, but it looks good, has a unique design, and is less than other versions from other manufacturers

It also doesn't have a date wheel...and Timex are cheaper than most other manufacturers too.

Since Loupe dropped through the letterbox this morning, I've been thinking about this one.
And I've decided...I like it.
The size, the colours, the retro look.(Reminds me a bit, quite a bit, of the Doxa Sub. I suspect we may see one with an orange dial at some point).
Regarding dive depth, I was chatting to a salesman in a somewhat classy watch boutique, (the usual suspects: Rolex, Omega, Breitling etc), and he opined, regardless of WR, one should NEVER take a watch into the bath or shower because the steam/soap/changes in water pressure, (!), will ruin the watch. I ignored him, of course. Then a chap I worked with, who owned a Cartier, claimed he had been told the very same thing.
So fellas, bottom of the ocean: fine, having a quick wash: NO!

I like it a lot and agree it has something Doxa-esq about it (in a good way). The WR is odd to me as even putting 200m would have made it more than the Dartmouth and a “proper dive watch”.

I don’t fully agree about the pointless marketing gimmick though as that could be said about most things in watches now... even watches themselves 😂 helium escape valves, 600m WR, divers extensions, using colours that can be seen better at great depths, tachymeters, ratropante etc

They’re all there “because just because” haha

One question I do have is whether the bracelet from my Dartmouth would fit it, as getting one on a leather strap and with the voucher would bring the price down enough for me to consider it.

I'm guessing you missed the posts about the Fifty Fathoms, Zodiac and Submariner all being 100m (technically 91m for the Blancpain) dive watches? Yes, I would happily dive with a 100m watch, and thousands of divers have done so for the past 70 years. So long as it's been properly maintained (and from a brand that uses legitimate depth ratings, so maybe not Invicta) there is no good reason you couldn't dive with a 50m WR watch either, other than not having a comfortable buffer for peace of mind.
No I didn’t but I guess you have missed many of these type of charts

And this one from the manual of a C60

Therefore, I am glad you are confident to dive with your near to £1k watch but I would be feeling a little trepidatious with anything rated below 200m.

Of course, it is all theoretical as I would never really dive with any of my expensive dive watches...I use a cheap citizen or Seiko...just in case.

I suppose having experienced even an Omega Seamaster failing in a swimming pool has made me wary!

I guess we'll call it a draw. Your charts written by risk-averse lawyers vs. my 70 years of real world experience by actual divers. To each his own. I would happily wear a C65 SC in basically any situation a normal person is likely to find themselves in, including diving. Perhaps you will never wear it out of the house for fear of damage. We all have our risk comfort levels.
