C65 Super Compressor - Sunray dial?

Post by Tonywalker »

Hi All

Looking into the C65 Super Compressor at the moment. Do both the current Ocean Blue dial and the dark blue - which I think has now been retired - have sunray dials?

I find it difficult to workout from images on the Internet.

Thanks
Tony

I’ve never seen a dark blue one in real life but have owned the ocean blue and that does have a sunray blue dial.

It's not a sunray but it is a very striking deep blue which changes with the light. Don't really know how to describe it. It's not highly polished but it is vey reflective. In short, it's beautiful!

I have the deep blue and can confirm it has a sunray dial.

The Reference Gallery is a good place to look for real world photos.

Super Compressor gallery.

The Archives is the place to look for model information including whether a model is discontinued.

The Archive says that the Deep Blue Super Compressor is still active. It could be that it is just getting the updated dial treatment (new Swish logo). I think up until recently it was still the older word mark.

I’ve been interested by the Super compressor for some time now, but was waiting for it to get the new bracelet. (I have an allergy on the old, not on the new…)
When checking if it got updated, I saw that it is only offered in one color? The bracelet is also still the old one, is it possible they take the super compressor out of their line up?

Hi, the black sand SC has certainly been discontinued. I’m sure someone else will have more information on the two blues

Is there something in translation happening here? All of the bracelets are the same 316L stainless steel.

The Ocean Blue just got the updated logo dial not too long ago so I don't think it is totally being phased out. It does look like the Deep Blue has been officially discontinued as of 07/2022 (according to the archive).

The orange and teal blue Tibor straps have also been discontinued.

Given the info above it might be that CW will not transition the Super Compressor bracelet and just keep the model as is until it is phased out all together.

Too bad as I still think it is/was one of their best watches.

It does look great on straps too! So there is always that route if the bracelet doesn't work for some reason.

I was struck by the SC at the recent watch fair. I've always sort of flicked over it, but seeing it live was very impressive. The colour itself was most attractive. Not really close enough to be honest, but this might help.

I may be wrong here, but don't CW use the same bracelet for all there watches but just add model specific endlinks?

If so would there be any reason from them not to swap, even if the SC is on the way out?

If they had enough old bracelet stock for the remaining pieces then it wouldn't transition. They would sell through what they have on hand.

:-x :-x Yes, I know, it’s all 316L, but with my older C65 Trident I had an allergy, that’s the reason I sold it. Now last summer I gave it a try with the Aquitaine (I found a real good deal, so I thought: if it is the same, I can sell it), but I have no problem at all.
I had the same allergic reaction to my Circula bor bracelet. Not on other watches…
