C65 dune shoreline the only one?

Post by kopitedavo »

Hi, just wondering if the shoreline model is the only one with that textured style face? I know it’s a limited edition.
Was wondering if there are any others in that style.
Seen the the price of one on eBay and nearly fell off the couch.
Thanks

@kopitedavo

Yes; the C65 Shoreline is the only CW watch, to date, with that specific wavy style of dial that it has.

It is though rumoured there may be open series C65s with the same wavy dial based on discussion in the Loupe 35 topic.

As to the price on eBay for a C65 Dune Shoreline, it will be worth checking out the Resale and Pricing Information recorded in the CWArchive.

Thanks for reply. I certainly won’t be paying the eBay price 🤣.
I’ll hang on a while and wait and see does it come to fruition. 👍🏻

I think there were only 100 of the shoreline, and that particular colourway won't be repeated, but there are now these alternatives. (Dune Aeolian)
Out of interest is the wave pattern different on the new release?

Edit. I put 10 in my post. It was edited to 100 by a forum mod, but I did think it was 10. I just checked the oracle article again, and it was 100.

The LE looked like it was copying an Oris Diver 65 colorway so I am glad CW came out with some new/different colors.

Yes. I bought the pool blue in 40mm in the sale, and that is really as small as I like to go. Never say never though. It's really a matter of getting accustomed to the smaller dial size.

If you have 15 40mm or 42mm watches and just 1 37 or 38mm watch, you will always see the small one as an outlier. :D

I think the C65 Dune is a better watch. Certainly better finished.

Probably so but that was not my point.

There's nothing new under the sun, particularly with colour pallets and I'm not entirely sure where (which brand) the sand dune ripple on a dial first appeared either, several brands appear to use it.

CW's 'thing' is high build quality for a great price. Their watches need to be viewed for what they are and for the most part, it isn't originality.

edit: They could actually have been copying any watch with a grey/black dial and blue marker pallet, Timberland and Panerai are two examples, but a closer match might be the OP39 with grey dial and blue outer markers. Besides which, the colour pallet would have been bespoke to Oracle of Time and probably CW had nothing to do with the decision.
