C65 Aquitaine - Graphite (concept)

Post by petardimov »

Hi everyone,

First time posting here. I have loved CW for a long time but never owned one. This is about to change due to the ongoing sale, an orca black Aquitaine GMT is on the way. However, I am not sure if I will keep it since the clash of the two different shades of white on the dial might be bothersome for me - between the indices and the logo/date window. I would like to give it a chance in person though. The Aquitaine is by far my favourite CW design line and I just had an idea. What if they did a graphite version, just like the Special Edition of the C60? Fired up photoshop, spent a minute editing a press photo and came up with the image below. It would be such a stealthy contrast to the colourful versions in the lineup and I'd personally get one immediately if they did it. What do you think?

The Aquitaine has a lot of untapped potential, in my opinion. Have you seen the 'heritage' mock up posted by another member here?

I dont often comment when people create mock ups of different colour schemes for watches. I like to see what people are dreaming up, but they're just that - dreams.

However, this is lovely. Make it then take my money CW! :D

^^^ Lose the blobs and the lollipop and you’re almost there.

Maybe not, though, it’s still a diver, and it looks vaguely like the other 39 thousand black and white divers out there. :-k

PS. Devil’s Advocate mode engaged. :irony:

Actually, there aren't that many grey divers out there, especially vintage inspired. The Tudor 925 comes to mind. I think there is a lot of colour in the Aquitaine range and it would be good to have something more monochromatic and universal in the lineup for the sake of variety and those of us who want that.

I'd likely buy it. Definitely, if they make it in 39mm.

You're definitely on to something.
I bought a Graphite but moved it on fairly quickly.

I also bought the Aquitaine White sand. It was my first blob dial. While I still love the look of the White Sand online, the blobs didn't work for me on the wrist.

A graphite aquitaine with baton markers lining uo with the bezel markers, would peak my interest.
CW watch count - enough to keep me very happy, but always room for more!

^^^ The difficulty I have, though, is this.

If you take xxxx (insert watch of choice) and proceed to design the salient features out of it, at what point does it cease to be xxxx and turn into a completely different beast? :-k

This is an Aquitaine I could get behind. I gravitate to watches with a matte look. The Aquitaine is quite shiny in most respects. It is amplified by the bright colors I think. If CW made it I would definitely consider it.

This is so much better looking than the faux vintage lume of the Aquitaine!

Reminds me of the anthracite grey dial in Seiko's 62Mas. Good looking mockup.
