C63 Sealander Collection
Re: C63 Sealander Collection
I am in the US and ordered a C63 GMT on leather strap. I checked out in UK currency with discount code and paid GBP 562.50. This converts to about US$ 795 and hoped it would go through customs without any import charges. And it did so saved $25 from the US price and no $75 duty/DLH fee charge. So saved about $100 total.
But the GPB vs USD is increasing almost daily so soon this may not work anymore for watches with a value close to $800. Some credit card companies charge foreign transaction fees so these savings in ordering in GBP may be less as well.

Haha! I was just about to comment that this is one of Frank’s common tactics. Then I saw whose post it was!nordwulf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 1:48 am I am in the US and ordered a C63 GMT on leather strap. I checked out in UK currency with discount code and paid GBP 562.50. Here you go. The SC wears a bit larger because of the larger case and 22mm lug width but dials/bezel size are pretty similar.StrappedUp wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 11:51 am Does anyone with a Super Compressor also have a C63 Auto/GMT? Would love to see a comparison shot![]()

Got the black and it is beautiful. I chose this color because of the contrast between the dial and hands/markers. And the partly black GMT hand so blends in a bit more with the dial.

Shame about the GMT hand not being perfectly synched though. :0(nordwulf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 2:11 amHere you go. ?? Looks perfect to me...User has it set for his local time and its showing just after 9pm in most pics and just before 2pm in another, the 12 hour hand shows corresponding position. Unless I'm missing something of course !

Re: C63 Sealander Collection
How is it not perfectly synched? The hour hand is a 24hr hand, so it's set to presumably 21:04 in that picture.redmonaco wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 10:35 amShame about the GMT hand not being perfectly synched though. :0(nordwulf wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 2:11 amHere you go. Re: C63 Sealander Collection
Somehow I think redmonaco understands 9:04pm = 21:04.
I believe the point he is making is that the time is 21:04 but the point on the GMT hand appears to be aligned to a spot the wrong side of the bezel's black 21:00hrs dot marker thus signifying a time prior to 21:00hrs.
If there is a problem it's maybe that the bezel markings don't line up with the dial hour batons.
An optical illusion due to the angle of the photos?

Re: C63 Sealander Collection
That's a good point. The hour hand itself has clearly passed the midpoint between the 20 and 22, indicating the time is past 9pm I assume all the hands will line up.at midnight. So if anything is wrong it would appear to be the alignment of the bezel, but that may well just be a parallax effect, as you say.Mikkei4 wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 4:05 pm Somehow I think redmonaco understands 9:04pm = 21:04.![]()

Re: C63 Sealander Collection
^^^ if you look at the maths on this for the moment, we will see that each minute division on the chapter ring represents 24 minutes on the GMT hand. A line bisecting the second and third minute markers would divide that into two twelve minute sections.
I’ll wager it’s not too far off, but you will get a clearer idea by lining it up with any even hour.

If it's working correctly they will all line up at midnight. It's hard to see how the GMT hand could slow down and speed up, and still register at midnight, with fixed gearing, do as long as they are lining up it will be right. The hard part is getting the GMT hand to advance by 7.5degree incrementd.
What I don't understand is that some commentators say this isn't a true GMT. What's a true GMT then? Can you set the hour hand completely independent ly of the true time?

Re: C63 Sealander Collection
A true GMT is where the normal hour hand advances or retards in one hour increments, à la Rolex GMT Master/Exp 2. The Ulysse Nardin I bought the other week is a true GMT, but in this case the GMT is a window and the hour hand is changed by pushers rather than by the crown.
