Fantastic watch. Call me a bluff old traditionalist, but I’m really glad that I have the version with the solid black dial. The sapphire dial is not my thing.
You are a bluff old traditionalist. :D

I’m not a fan of sapphire dials either. I don’t know why, but I’ve yet to see a watch with a sapphire dial that I want. Anyway, I bought a different CWL watch today…..
I have been hoping that another COSC version of the C63 would appear, something with a lighter dial than the current versions. I am not a fan of the sapphire dial either, although I have not seen one in 'the metal' so that might change my view.

Guess I'll just have to settle for the white face GMT then :-)

Pulled the trigger on one! Will be my first sapphire dial, and I'm super excited to see it in person. Between the dial, the lumed bezel and the blue on the hands, my wallet never really stood a chance...

checked on the CW website for the first time in 2 months, checked out the latest releases...and this thing immediately caught my eye. it stayed on my brain all day like an inception and eventually i bought it later in the day. it just looks way too cool and unique. will be selling my 38mm c60 GMT in blue to make room in the collection.

I just noticed that this LE is 12.4mm thick but the standard sealander is only 11.8mm thick. Anyone know why the difference? I can forgive use of the old SW movement, but why use it if it adds thickness and requires a new case...

I would imagine the case is the standard c63, it's more likely to be the bezel or case back that's adding the height. It's very unlikely that a new case was produced for a run of 200 watches.

^^^ My guess is that the sapphire dial needs to be a little thicker than the standard dial in order to be stable enough not to crack too easily. This would push the handset up and thus the bezel/crystal. Just a guess, as there are no stats out there showing the thickness of the various dials. Also, is the COSC movement thicker than the non COSC? It’s still fairly thin for a GMT with 150m WR.

I thought that too but all of the other Sapphire models are the same thickness. Even the new C63 Bronze. Even the 40 mm C60s are the same thickness as the regular ones. So I don't think that is it. However, it is .55 mm so I don't think it would be noticeable.

EDIT to NOTE: The C65 trident GMT was 12.05.

Message on CW's website is;-

"Sold out - Contact customerservices@christopherward.co.uk to be added to the waiting list "

Maybe its just the initial batch that is sold out and they don't want, formally, to keep the order book open.

it's stated as a limited edition of 200, so i assumed all 200 had sold out. they had a "first batch" that is slated to be delivered april 10th and then a second batch slated for delivery may 10th (mine). always a possibility that they bring it back, just doesn't seem like the arrow is pointing that way

Given the lead time, the waiting list would be for any cancellations that may occur.

I pulled the trigger almost right away when they first advertised this beauty. April 10th can’t come soon enough!

I'd actually forgotten this watch existed. Checked the CW website and it made more of an impact then when first released.

It's made its way on to the 'possibles' list
