For those that now have your C63 Colchester, could you comment on the ease/difficulty of winding the watch? I don’t have ogre hands and find it quite difficult to wind the watch beyond about halfway, at which point it becomes difficult to grasp the crown as it sits too close to the case. I’ve reached out to CW to inquire but would like to hear your experiences.

Why do you want to wind it to that extent?

Half a dozen winds at most, to get it going, set the date and time, stick it on your wrist and off you go.

If you have to wind it any further, I advocate turning it over, so you're looking at the caseback and wind from there. You can get a better purchase on the crown that way.

Hope this helps.

Guy

Winding the Colchester is certainly a challenge, my fingers are pretty slender and I find it tricky.... I tend to give it about 20 turns and then it's good to go, even without a full wind its well within cosc specs.
Personally I'm happy to deal with this as I can't wait to get it on my wrist, this is a great watch in so many ways.

Thank you both for sharing your experience.

Have you noticed any play in your bezel? I was setting the time just now and noticed it move slightly.

No, I can't say I've noticed anything like that with mine.

Thanks for checking, David. I think I should go ahead and send mine in for service to have this remedied.

I used to have the Sealander Elite that had a similar crown setup.
In the end, I returned it for other issues, but I did have problems when trying the manually wind the crown. I don’t think there was anything wrong with its overall gear ratio, but the crown’s relatively small diameter and very narrow profile just made it hard/uncomfortable to grip with sufficient comfort to wind.
Granted, if the watch was to be worn day in, day out as your only watch then I doubt it will be much of an issue.
Hope this helps and keep well,
C

Hi guys… I’ve been reading through this thread with last post from Feb 2022 and just started a new thread looking for interest for a bespoke C63 based on the Colchester but removing the coin on the caseback and changing the colour from the seconds hand and indices on the front of the watch and possible engraving.

This would effectively remove any tie in to the Armed forces which seems to be a big reason for people not pulling the trigger on the watch. I now have seen the C63 Colchester in person and thought maybe it would be possible to remove the coin myself from the sapphire Crystal case back but it looks like it’s really stuck on well and if I did manage to remove it, I would likely damage the Crystal.

The other bonus would be an even more unique watch that’s also thinner and possibly 1 gram lighter  The removal of the coin would also allow for the existing case-back to be full exhibition.

Looks like would need to order 25 or more, so if anyone is interested send me a message or add to the new thread.

At time of writing we would need another 23 interested parties.

Cheers
Lee
