I’m sorry to inform you of a delay to your delivery of your C60 Trident Pro GMT 600. Unfortunately we have had an issue on production of the GMT movements from ETA. Our Swiss logistics team are working hard to source an alternative for your watch, which moves the expected delivery to the end of July.
There have been a few magnetism threads within the past few months, try searching for the keyword and you'll be able to read others quickly and easily remedying the issue... even at home.

With regard to the "new manufacturer" statement. Scott Callaway's email to me doesn't mean they are sourcing movements from a different (new) manufacturer. It may simply mean ETA had an issue with a production run allocated to CW so CW now is trying to source the same ETA movements from another company or dealer to get back on track.

Either way, the comments from more seasoned forumites weren't meant to shun you from posting but it did seem odd for the first post out of the gate to be "Beware of CW". Most here are very willing to help advise you of the best way to correct your issue, but it was a bit troll like. On top of that, many are burnt out from the negativity of late and it was simply bad timing.

Happy you're still here.

I think you are reading more into this email than is meant to be. I see no mention of a "new manufacturer" of the C60 GMT. What I do see is a company informing you that they are trying to source the movements elsewhere as they are unable to get them from ETA.

Welcome to the forum.
Please don't be put off from participating on this forum. It seems to me you had a legitimate concern and have received some very negative (yet very amusing ) reactions.
I too came to the forum with some concerns but my experience was very different. The forum members who responded to me were very understanding and gave me some good feedback and food for thought. I've also noted that one of the most popular threads on the forum over the last week was from a experienced member who has fallen out of love with Christopher Ward so I'm a bit confused why its seen as ok for experienced members to air their grievances but frowned upon by new members.
I'd hope that all members give an open and honest account of their experiences, this way new members and potential customers get to see the issues and hopefully see Christopher Wards legendary customer services in full effect in resolving any issues.
Ive not been here long but the members I've encountered have meant that the experience has been very positive and i shall be sticking around and hopefully contributing in a more positive manner.
DISJT, you got a smoother ride because your first post was different (better) in tone to dsl's post. It's absolutely ok for anyone - old or new posters - to air their grievances, but the important thing is the way it is done. Like dsl did, striding in to a party full of people who know each other and where no-one knows you, and shouting "This is a terrible party!" then walking back out again, won't win you many friends.

dsl, as for 'unplugging' at the weekend, fair enough - but then it shows a degree of naievty/emotional unintelligence to think that you can post something controversial/potentially troll-like like your post #1 and then not get stick from people when you fail to check in for days. But hey - welcome anyway and stick around. I'll happily try and help in future with questions if I feel I can, now that you've come back again.

Your party analogy is excellent and with your permission I'd like to use it when appropriate. Basically being well mannered is important in any social setting to make friends and be successful, this forum included. There are a lot of fantastic people in this group who are very knowledgeable and willing to help others. All that's necessary is to be polite rather than rude or trollish(is that a word).

Thank you for the welcomes and I apologize if my first experience with the list reflects my first experience with CW... negative. However, I never intended to make this about my experience, I just assumed a forum dedicated to the brand would want to be aware of any production issues.

I don't understand how going to another vendor for the eta for the GMT isn't a new manufacturer but I recognize I have little experience In horology and will defer to the more experienced on this.

TF, I love the sarcasm barely veiling the smugness. I will take you at your word for the welcome and hope I can re-enter the party with a better attitude.

For those who want to continue to hate... feel free.

ETA make watch movements, it was basically a monopoly until their patent expired a few years ago. Seems ETA failed to meet CWs order so CW had to ask around and find someone with some movements going spare - they would have come from the same factory originally and be of the same quality, but just like you can buy the same branded products from any supermarket CW had to find an alternative supplier.

Glad to hear you are in contact with CS, I'm sure they will take care of you

cnl, your last comment is a thinly veiled ad hominem attack, otherwise known as name calling, and is not helping your situation as a new forum member. You're continuing to dig a deep hole so, perhaps it's in your best interest to stop digging.

As suicidal orange says, CW (who was and still is the manufacturer of the watch as a single, value-added saleable good) is - like very many brands large and small - having trouble sourcing sufficient certain ETA movements to meet demand. This scarcity will only increase which is why CW has both been sourcing virtually identical Sellita (also Swiss) movements, and developing in-house movements.

Hope that helps.

Thank you both! As I said, I don't have the experience but that is very enlightening in context of what happened.

You're welcome.

Forgot to mention, the use of ETA/Sellita movements in the Swiss watch industry is not only widespread but the norm. So please don't think that CW are cutting corners in using 'another' manufacturer. Almost every other brand - all the way up to Patek - use ebauches supplied by other watchmakers for at least some of their range. Rolex is a rare beast and even then if you want to be picky most of their current range uses outsourced shock protection and hairsprings (though this is changing).
