Thanks for the comments. I sent a picture a couple of days ago that was centred and not in my wrist. The markers are slightly out but scott said that even if they took it back it would not be fixed. I am happy to get a refund. I guess I am comparing the watch to the oris watches I have owned and feel that although very stylish they do not quite have the same quality, but are a similar price point . I like cw designs and products but, I feel £600 is a maximum price I am willing to pay

^^ Thanks for replying. When you sent the pictures to Scott, what were you looking for CW to do for you?

nbg wrote: Wed Nov 07, 2018 11:30 am The last three posts are all about customer expectation and what is reasonable.

Does anyone expect the same fit and finish on a mass market Seiko dive watch, as they would on say a Rolex Submariner? No.

Does anyone expect the same fit and finish on a mass market Ford, as they would on say a Bentley? No.

However, as far as I am aware neither Seiko or Ford set out expectations that they are comparable quality wise with the Premium Brands in their respective markets.

CW have been known to adopt a different approach, with the occasional piece of marketing and sales copy that implies they are also a premium product, with a distinguishing factor between themselves and the big boys as same quality, but much lower prices because we don’t rip you off price wise.

Well CW can’t expect to have it both ways, so if they want to play with the big boys, they need to adopt similar tolerances to those brands, or stop trying to pretend that they are comparable.

Neil
I don't believe CW are trying to have it both ways. As far as I'm aware yes they state that their watches are of a good / high quality for the price level because they don't have the constant costs of high street premises or the AD middle men having to take their profit. But I don't think any of us truly think or have been led to believe by CW that they are up there with the Rolex, Omega and that level of brand, who are what I would maybe consider as the big(ger) boys.

Willttqs has done the correct thing by comparing the CW watch to an Oris which he knows and is at a similar price point which is more of a like for like IMO. Equally he has done the correct thing for himself by contacting CW direct and due to their response will be returning the watch. Those options are available to us all, buy or don't buy, keep or return.

If Chris ever lets his one go I have a feeling that there will be a lengthy queue forming:

Just as an update from me...
So mine went back for a refund.
Why - refer back to page 7 of this thread for the close up picture - you can clearly see that the 9 is wonky and also that there is a red dot just above and to the left of the 6 indice/marker - this is, what appears to be, a drop of red paint that is on the under side of the glass (clearly meant for the ATM text colour :silent: ).
Anyway, returned, acknowledged, no issues/quibbles whatsoever from Customer Services and they have sorted out the refund very quickly - I have to say that I've been pretty impressed by the service I've received

So watch number two delivered today and they said they addressed both the wonky 9 indice and apologised that it didn't come in the expected deluxe wooden case which was to be remedied with the replacement; which I see they have taken that photo off of the website with the watches.

Doesn't look or feel like the deluxe wooden box and to me this also has the wonky indice at 9

I really do love everything about this limited edition, the dial (despite the lack of red text in the finished product), the matte ceramic and lumed bezel, the the case that I'm dying to see a patina develop... but what excitement I had originally has turned to disappointment with the QC issues that I was assured was addressed for my replacement have obviously not taken place.

Sadly this is to be returned too and alas I don't have faith at this time that it will be resolved a third time, shame really as I do genuinely love it but I can't help but be distracted by the 9 indice compared to all the others :(

Who knew this is available in 38mm

Basic schoolboy error from someone in CW marketing.

This is from Dec. issue of Prospect Magazine. I wonder if it’s also all over the London Underground on posters as well...

according to CS the pictures I sent do not show the indice misaligned including a full dial picture that I sent them?
Also they never sent it in a deluxe wooden box as they are out of stock...Guessing they ran out of boxes before #51/300 first time around then, which I received 2/11.

ahh well, at least I can get a refund.

I don’t see a significant mid-alignment. I may be a smidge off at the macro scale but I’d never notice it without a closeup and a box like you drew. I’d say it’s within acceptable tolerances imho.
