C60 #Tide dial cracking.

Post by indiqo »

Hi,
i almost pulled the trigger on a C60 #Tide. But now that i heard that the dial can crack, i'm not so sure anymore (source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/commen ... _c60_blue/)

I handle my stuff with care, but sometimes even i drop something.

Since i want to buy a good quality watch for decades and as an item i can pass on, a crack later on would break my heart.

I assume one screw was tightened too strong and that caused the crack.

Did anyone from CW talk about the possibility of that in any way or form?

Really like the watch, but with that knowledge i simply can't buy it. :?

Welcome to the forum.

An interesting scenario you have presented us with for which a few quick comments;-

1. The link you have provided is for a C60 Blue Marine LE, not the C60 #tide, and is 10 months old. However,

2. The Blue Marine and the #tide, together with the C60 Sapphire models (Blue, Black and Orange) use the same dial setup, and

3. This is the first time I've read of this issue!

I've not read the thread in the link but I'd expect CW to fix the problem under warranty.

Bottom line? Buy with confidence.

Guy

PS> I've currently got the Blue Marine, #tide and blue sapphire in my collection; all three of which are perfect.

Firstly, welcome!

If you look hard enough on the internet, there will be someone that’s had an issue with virtually every product ever sold. If all you can find is one person that’s reported an issue I wouldn’t worry about it. How many people say they’ve had a problem with their new Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc. etc… - doesn’t stop people buying them. CW have a very good warranty so, if you like the watch buy it. Oh, and the C60 #Tide is a cracking (no pun intended!) looking watch - buy and enjoy.

One anecdotal incident does not make for a concern across an entire watch model or category of models. Buy with confidence, especially considering the link you share is about someone complaining about a watch without having dealt with customer service yet over his issue.

Welcome indigo! Accidents happen and sometimes a lemon can slip through.

I usually put on / take off my watches over a padded carpet or my bed because I have dropped my watches too many times.

I also put my hand behind me when I walk by the kitchen island. A few of my non-CW watches have fallen victim to the quartz top.

I do the same when walking through the metal framed doorways in my building!

I also wear new watches under my sleeve for the first week after receiving them. After a couple weeks my irrational paranoia begins to fade away
