Hi, I took delivery of a C60 Elite 1000 last Monday. Wound it up and started wearing straight away. (obviously!!).
For the 1st couple of days it was running about -1/2 sec p/d. After just over a week it is now running over 2 sec p/d slow. It is still within the COSC tolerances (-4 sec p/d) but the accuracy is what I am concerned with, as it is getting worse day by day. Is there a 'bedding in' period for the 1st couple of weeks?
I have numerous other mechanical watches (CW and non-CW) and haven't got this issue, as I am able to 'self-regulate' by storing the watches overnight in the different positions to keep the watch accurate.
I am storing this watch dial up overnight, but it is still losing more time per day. The COSC certificate that I have for this watch has a variance of -1.67 sec p/d to +1.95 sec p/d in all positions, but whichever way I store this watch I cannot get it to gain any time at all.
I am not varying the way it is worn daily, so I really would expect it to get into a rhythm as it were.
Should I be concerned, or see if it finally exceeds the COSC tolerances and then contact CW for their advice?
Your thoughts/suggestions would be most appreciated.
Kind regards,
Tony.

My instinct is that CW won't do anything unless and until the watch slips out of COSC and we might say why should they?
I'm not the go-to guy who can advise whether the movement responds well to being kept fully charged or whether it benefits from being run down.
From my own limited experiences of monitoring accuracy I'm going to ask about your technique for so doing please: timegrapher device or an app? I use an app, sometimes being pleased to grab a good reading over a short period "before it goes off" and some watch cases can be the very devil to get a confident reading from in all positions. Truthfully I sometimes think I'm providing more of a snapshot than an accurate and repeatable measurement.

^^^The app I use for timing runs lets me do several runs for a given watch. It still gives me an overall average but I can drill down into individual runs to see what was happening. It is helpful to see what a movement does over several different runs to sus out timing trends for example it is consistently getting worse or holding steady at a given rate. If it is consistently getting worse then there may be worse problems. Of course, the more runs you have the better because it will minimize outliers where you weren't as active etc. I usually let a run go for about a week.
Another thing the app does is it allows me to keep track during a timing run without hacking the movement. I just enter a check whenever I want and it does the math. This is helpful to ascertain the overall timing stability over a run.
@tonyhg what does the cert say for dial up (CH)? For the storing position, I would look at the overall results for each position to find the best one. For my Dartmouth for example, dial up ran -3.2 and -3 respectively. Unless it was overall running fast I wouldn't want to leave it there. However, dial down (FH) runs at 2.67 and 4.62. If the Dartmouth was running slow overall I would leave it there. The variance doesn't really tell you if a given position is gaining or losing.
If it is losing 2 on wrist, then you would want to find a position that was at least +2 maybe a little more to get a good counter to the on wrist rate.
It is a little to soon to tell anything definitive. I would let it run more and possibly keep timing info with an app like I mentioned above. I use WatchTracker.

Hi rkovars.
(CH) reading is up to +1.95 sec p/d, but doesn't gain anything when stored dial up overnight. That is the 'fastest' timing in the cert. The 3 o'clock up and dial down positions are also positions of gain, so I'll try storing it one of those ways over the coming days to see if that works. I just need to find a position for it to start gaining, as I believe it's losing too much per day and I don't seem to be able to counteract the loss.

Re: C60 Elite 1000 - COSC Accuracy/Tolerances
Just an update. It's on it's way back to CW. Tried storing it in all the positions where the cert showed which position it should gain in, and it is now running over 5 seconds p/day slow at the moment. This was after a hack to give it a chance!
Hopefully a quick regulate will sort out the issue.
Cheers,
Tony

My Elite GMT runs +-1spd on the wrist. Never timed it unworn as it's plenty accurate on the wrist.

Re: C60 Elite 1000 - COSC Accuracy/Tolerances
Hi CBMVic20 - my timings are a mixture of daily wear (+10 hours) and then when I take it off at night to 'store' it, over a 24 hour period.
It started at -1/2spd, then gradually got worse and worse, to the extent that the last 2 days (after a hack) it was -11 sec on wrist and stored, over a 40 hour period. Only got the watch 17/6/24, so a bit disappointed that it is nowhere near the COSC cert timings of worst case scenario of either -1.67spd to +1.95spd. Couldn't get it to run fast at all. Interested to see what comes of the initial inspection when it arrives at CW? I'd rather have a fast watch than a slow one.
