C60 COSC letter received. What to do.

Post by gregstar »

I'm sure you have all seen the millions of posts on the c60cosc error.

Well I hadn't, I'm moving jobs, moving house oh and im going to be a dad again do ive been busy to say the least and haven't been in the forum.

So it turns out my watch is one of the c60s with the wrong movement in.

I can't decide what to do? As far as movements go I'm pretty clueless as to which is which and which is best.

My trident COSC is now looking pretty battered and bruised as I've been wearing it for everything so the thought of £735 to spend on another watch is appealing. I do like the trident but shortly after buying the COSC I assisted with the submarine service one and so have 2 black tridents now. And the COSC has no real sentimental value to me. It's just a watch.

Also this isn't the first problem ive had

When the watch was delivered it came with all the paperwork for #194/500, that's fine apart from my watch is 094/500.
Not just once but on every bit of paper work. I have now got the correct ones.

The bezel also seized solid.

Both fixed.

Like I said the sound of £735 to spend on a new watch sounds very appealing but I can't help but feel bad about it? I feel it's wrong of me to return it?

My other thought is how many of these are like this? Does it make the watch more unique? Kinda like the misprinted 20p coins? Free service too? It's a good offer.
One day I'll get found out.

In your circumstances and in view of the fact you don't have any 'sentimental' feelings for the watch, I'd trade it like a shot. CW''s offer, whilst a generous one, is a business decision designed to rectify and limit any damage and fall out from a potential messy situation. There is no need for you to feel bad about taking advantage of the fact they sold you the wrong watch in the first place!

i guess the question should come down to this for you. do you want to keep the watch? more than you want to buy something different with the money? i wouldn't feel bad about returning it if you don't. but i also wouldn't worry about the movement in and of itself. there's no reason to expect the sellita would be a problem.

I traded mine for the red bezel pro 600 42mm MKII C60. Looks immense one stainless strap but even better with a leather one!

Traded. The only thing they asked for was the COSC certification along with the watch. Sent back on Thursday and I am wearing my brand spanker today!!!

I have returned mine for a new movement. This is not because I am exercised re Eta vs Sellita, and my teddy is not out of the perambulator....but only because it had to be repaired after one day's wear, and once returned it was at the limit of COSC at +6s/day, so I welcomed a fresh start.

Reading between the lines of your post, I would trade it in and get another watch, whether a C60!or something else entirely perhaps?

I am quite happy with my C60 COSC, but would be even happier if it were more accurate, and I hope more reliable.

Trade it: the fault was not yours, CW have quickly acknowledged and remedied the situation. You're entitled to the money, so accept it and buy yourself a new one to celebrate the forthcoming baby!

Anyone know what CW are going to do with all these returned battered C60 COSC?

Are they going to sell them on ebay? Scrap them?

I would think they would refurbish them to nearly new conditions and then sell them at an appropriate price.
