c60 anthropocene discontinued?, no it's back!

Post by Purrr »

One of the most unique watches with translucent dial with a great background story is discontinued...Can't believe it...I know, I seem to love styles that are different and unique in an understated way. This was and still is a unique watch. You can show me a million different watches, I'm still completely in love with my c60 anthropocene and nothing compares. Guess I'll have a more unique watch now it's discontinued...Good for me and the other owners of this great watch. As the trend seems to be to go for smaller sized watches, I'd recommend to maybe make a smaller variation of this one! Still keeping the GMT function of course...Sometimes the amount of sales of an item can be less important than the uniqueness an item gives to your portfolio.

I’ve only just bought this watch and absolutely love it. I’m really surprised that such an awesome watch has been discontinued, especially as the story and message behind the design is such an important and topical one. It’s my first mechanical watch, and now I have got the collectors bug, big time. If only I had the money to match my enthusiasm.

@Bennylawton - Welcome to the forum.

I have a C60 Anthropocene GMT as well (I actually have two, one with each logo  ) and quite agree with you.

I think though, the harsh reality is that CW retired the main C60 Trident Pro 600 range, on which the Anthropocene GMT is based, last summer. I imagine they set aside the required number of cases, crystal, movement etc. to go with the dial, bezel etc. they had for the Anthropocene but thereafter, once it's gone it's gone. :( :(

Maybe, in time, there'll be a C60 Pro 300 Anthropocene GMT. :-k :-k

Imagine where those thoughts might lead us all!
Welcome! I think that if I had no constraints on my watch buying - financial or otherwise - it would all be a bit dull really. All artists work with / against constraints and the work is the better for the tension.

Tension is often part of the game

Thanks for the replies!, Personally I wouldn't mind a 300 version of the c60 anthropocene, it's a unique design, still maybe not great for the average buyer...Anyway, I'm greatfull for having the chance to own this watch. Would not want another one!

I’m always wary when Guy mentions he has 2 of a particular watch.

I get a nervous tic in my wallet

Welcome. Do please visit the Member Introduction section and tell us about yourself. 8)

It’s true that model longevity varies: some of my favourites weren’t around for long, and some that I liked less seem to have been around forever.

Still, if you bought one that’s not a problem.

Is that a black applied logo? Has that always been there? It’s a really nice touch if so.

They later applied the new logo, I guess it's black.

It's not an Applied Logo, merely painted, which has been on the Anthropocene for a while. Here's mine that was new last year.

In the meantime, CW's website description appears to be out of date;- Frosted sapphire crystal dial with Christopher Ward at 12 o’clock; this being from the original v_3 logo version.

Ah, I see Guy. I thought from the slight shadow it was applied. Beautiful watch.

I was buying this watch earlier this year, couldn't make mind up between the 12 and this. Bought the 12 and then went to buy the C60 because I liked them both just as it disappeared from the website. I had at the time direct contact with a project manager due to issues with the 12 I got (-20 sec a day which is poor considering its certified Chrono ) and was told they had issues with manufacture of the see thru dial and would be back when issue resolved but I guess the success of the 12 put the C60 on the back burner and ultimately they've canned it due to slow sales compared to the 12 and bel canto. Just my insight. Shame as I really liked that watch.
