C30 battery replacement

Post by quietman »

Hi, my C30 needs a battery replacement, it's seven years old now. I normally change all my watch batteries myself but cannot budge any of the seven screws holding the back cover on. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

Maybe ask a jeweller to do it this time, and not tighten them up so much. Or send back to CW for the change? They definitely do unscrew, do they? It seems an unusual number.

Pretty sure, there's no indent for the case back to be offered off. I'd rather return to CW for the battery change but they're closed because of lockdown. Any C30 owners out there?

Is there a possibility the screws had a dab of threadlock on them? If so, a gentle heat (hairdryer) might free them. Probably worth a try, provided you are careful with the heat.

Thanks Richard, worth a try but I'd be disappointed if they put thread lock on during assembly!

You never know. I had a C3 that managed to lose a couple of screws from the caseback, so I’d have been happy with a touch of loctite on mine.

I’ve just taken the back off mine. The screws have a touch of threadlock on them. They’re safe to remove once you’ve cracked them.
