Great example. I believe they also took private orders at the C7 Apex previews as well since there was talk of people being able to select their numbers. Anyways, I am just glad CW has invited all of us to see their next special thing.Macdaz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:29 pm This has been a standard approach for ages, not just with CW either. I was at CW Towers with a friend a few years ago checking out a few watches and Mike came in for a chat. After a while he asked if we would like to see something special, which of course, we did. He brought out the prototype of the c60 Apex which at that stage had not been mentioned anywhere. My mate fell in love and asked Mike if he could order one there and then.
Mike, of course, said yes. My mate paid a deposit and picked his serial number - 007 - before anybody else knew it was coming. (That story later appeared in Loupe). Was Mike really supposed to say 'no you'll have to take your chances when it goes on general release' when somebody was trying to give him money? Of course not! Putting aside the fact that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, he risked upsetting another good customer, just in a different way to upsetting a forum member who didn't think anybody should get first dibs.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
There were at least 14 of the C7 Apex watches sold on or before the GPHG launch. I know because I was number 15 in the queue and I ordered once I saw it during GPHG. Some orders for the C60 Apex and C60 Concept were definitely taken before, in some cases months, they were previewed. I know this to be true in both cases since I am one of those who took the initiative (and gamble) to do so. It's not hard, hear a rumour, visit the showroom on the right day and send Declan an email.tralls wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 1:55 amGreat example. I fully understand the reasons, I just don't agree with them. If information is readily accessible elsewhere, it just seems daft to remove all references to it here, a forum dedicated to CW.
This is what you sound like.
It's absolutely fine for this rule to be in place, and I'm not campaigning to have it changed or throwing my toys out of the pram. I understand it, I completely get the mods position on it, I just personally don't agree with it. With a bit of luck we're still in an environment where disagreement is an acceptable form of discussion.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
No one owes you your desired number. If I spent time and money to go see CW at a trade show (Wind Up NYC) before a release, why would I not be able to show interest and try to reserve a number ahead of time.TheBeatles wrote:I agree with all the comments about the embargo.
But I’m still disappointed with the apparent sales going on behind closed doors. An embargo is an embargo. No sales or serial number requests until November 1st.
If not, why not just design a watch and sell it to all your pals.
I’d be a bit miffed if I was hot on my “buy” button (so to speak) next Tuesday to find my desired number had been allocated days ago. If someone had beat me to it on release day, fair enough. But days ago, come on CW, play fair.
Preview attendance or not, this leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
An embargo is for the media.

It’s more or less the same complaining that happens with every preview.NationOfLaws wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 9:34 pm I for one am extremely glad that this thread has devolved into a bunch of complaining

Not wishing to get into an argument, but your last comment is not strictly accurate.
If just for media, why were the ordinary members who attended preview also asked to respect the embargo!

And I'm fairly confident that the end of the embargo will not be the end of the complaining. But with the watch in open view we'll be able to pass unhappy remarks about the design and points of detail. I'm possibly bucking a trend, I am completely happy with what's on offer. I don't have all the details but it's like "She's agreed to be my girlfriend, to talk to me at playtime, to meet me after school. I don't know what size shoes she wears and whether her folks have got a mean dog which chases boys off but right now I don't care 'cos I'm in love".Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 9:10 amYour prerogative. I look forward to people actually talking about the watch opposed to hurt feelings about not being invited to buy a watch they wouldn’t have bought anyway.tikkathree wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 8:51 amAnd I'm fairly confident that the end of the embargo will not be the end of the complaining. Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
I think sometimes because we’ve seen CW grow from humble beginnings we forget that CW is a business and not a collective. They’ll offer perks to those who spend most on the brand, as they’ll want to keep those customers the most happy.
I couldn’t attend any preview, was there an official release date as I didn’t see it in this thread.
