Looking at the previous post, it seems sales have already started for a privileged few!

Number 4 looks to be gone, and I read somewhere (post now seems to have been deleted) that #29 is gone too!!

Although it will probably be out of my price range, these advance sales appear to be unfair to those abiding by the info embargo and wishing to purchase.

^^^^^ I suspect that if this is the much rumoured hour chiming watch, like Meistersingers Bel Hora, then it is likely to use a modified JJ jumping hour movement to strike the hammer. There are a number of JJ calibres available as well as the in house SH21.

The Bel Canto information is issued to press and certain individuals with full knowledge that it is embargoed. That includes this forum. I have, on behalf of the forum, agreed to respect this request and control what we can to honor it. We have done this in the past and will follow through with doing it now. It matters not that any individual located this information elsewhere. Posting or distribution of embargoed information will not be allowed here until the embargo is lifted.

This forum has proven that it can be trusted. It is one of the reasons that we are able to partake in these previews as well as have the privilege to advance and special sales etc. Violation of the embargo may prevent us from access to future privileges.

To be clear, I fully understand the reasons, I just don't agree with them. If information is readily accessible elsewhere, it just seems daft to remove all references to it here, a forum dedicated to CW. I won't post the information as I know it'll be deleted and there's no point, but I think common sense should allow us to point out other areas of the internet where more information is available.

^^^^ If information that has been embargoed has somehow got out onto 'the internet', whomever posted or published it to start with, is in breach of the embargo and understood confidentiality.

To repost that information here on the forum is condoning the original breach which Kip and The Admin Team will not allow.

I didn't have the time or inclination to join a preview call, which is why I didn't sign up for it. I'm more than happy to wait for the information to reach me as and when it becomes available but that doesn't mean I agree with the approach of pretending the info isn't out there.

Stunning piece, just not for me in terms of specs. I just hope it's more than a one-off, and that the approach behind the positioning of that watch has spillovers on the brand as a whole for years to come. That's where I'd like CW to go for some of its offering. Very good preview.

I did shifts where I was off afternoons every other week for three years and a year finishing at four every day, I've had holiday booked the day after and, this time, the day before but not once have I managed to be home for a preview or the scheduled start time of a sale. Currently working Mon-Thu 6-6 so will miss the start of the January sale too.

At least I'll be around if there's anything special for Black Friday?

They aren't pretending the info doesn't exist or isn't out there. It isn't the admins call to make. They signed up for an embargo and are abiding by it until either it runs out or CW says it is null. That is how embargos work. It doesn't matter if, when, or where other information gets out.

It’s sad to see the same comments come up every time we get a preview. The admins honor the forum’s commitment to the embargo of information and some people complain. It comes down to, “someone else broke the rules, so why do I have to abide by them?” Maybe because this forum has some integrity and wants to respect the agreement made with CW! Geez, we can all wait a few days to discuss this as fully and openly as we want.

Confucius says "for every ten people there are fifteen opinions" or summat like that.

I caught most of the Thursday 5.00pm preview but had to exit before the end; I liked what I saw and have questions to answer and I'm happy to wait until the official launch to get the answers.
I'm studiously avoiding searching the three facebook CW groups for Bel Canto topics: I don't want to walk into the unnecessary complication of embargo compliance/non-compliance at different levels. I can cope with the wait and yet I don't rule out CW "accidentally" ending their embargo an hour or two early.

Excellent post, Andrew. A few interesting words there. They don’t seem to count for much in some places. :-k
