During the preview, MF did reference the Bell Hora as using the first version of the adapted JJ01 hour chime module. The challenge for Bel Canto was to redo the module so that the chime workings would be relocated to the front of the dial, in a way that would be balanced and attractive. Every time they redid the front design, the module design had to be changed.albionphoto wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 2:55 pmCW developed the module for the Meistersinger Bell Hora. This is a development of that.iain wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 2:34 pm As a technical achievement I’m quite impressed by this and the engineering behind it. As for a watch I’d actually buy and wear then it’s not for me. It is the CW hour chime version of the Meistersinger that was expected but with all the gubbins on show instead of hidden behind the dial. I’m sure owners will love it and it will be a talking point. The video on the website has a good tone to the chime as well.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
Credit to CW for doing this - it certainly shows their abilities as a serious watchmaker. It will sell-out very quickly and rightly so as I can fully understand the attraction for many and the relative value for money.
However, I don't find the aesthetic attractive to me and therefore it's a no.

I feel that for such a dressy watch a brushed case is not quite right.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
Well...CW have certainly launched a 'chime offensive' here. I think this looks incredible, although I'm not quite sure what I was expecting. This watch knocks Downer's Rule about buying on the bracelet on the head - blue leather all day. The chime sounds very pleasant on the website. The dial is really visually interesting with the small floating dial. I don't mean this in a derogatory sense, but this is one of CW's first watches to not immediately look like a CW.

My Casio F91w does the same thing for a tenner
Seriously though, all credit to CW. I think this is a terrific achievement and once again shows just how far they have come.

Having been lucky enough to see and hear the watch, I was very impressed. The chime I auditable but not overbearing, the dial does have a great colour. I am not sure about the bracelet, it does look more balanced on the leather. The detailing a amazing. Is it for me unfortunately not, but that Is only because with my eye sight I prefer high contrast dials. Over the last few years CW has made great leaps forward in quality as well as design. This though has brought with it a rise in price, but I feel that it is worth it.

It's a beautiful watch and, truth be told, would be a huge shift for me in the styles of watch I think appeal to me the most. I very nearly did but won't be buying one but I want to see lots of "delighted ownership" posts. It certainly gives me a feeling of pride to have an affinity with Christopher Ward as a brand.
Well done CW!

My guess is quite correct & glad I didn't purchase Meistersinger a couple of yrs ago (was tempted when they were FS @ £2094 last Xmas).
Glad it isn't another diver & great to see/hear the mechanisms together. Although I personally would prefer seeing green than blue dial considering all the hype with green colour these few yrs, still a bit of bargain for this type of complication imo. Hence, #128 ordered & look forward to it.
(Hope they launch green dial next, just like what they did with C9 SH21 anniversary.)

I think I will wear mine next time I visit WOS in Regent St. and ask to try on a couple of MB&F models.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
if you look carefully you'll see some design links to the C7 and C60 Apex watches. The dial is a development of the power reserve segment on the Apex watches and the flying bridge also has echoes of the C7 Apex front bridge too. I could be over-analysing though.strapline wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 3:28 pm Well...CW have certainly launched a 'chime offensive' here. I do like modern design. This reminds me of the Lloyd's building in London. Very similar in concept and both are determinedly modern. I know that retro and retro-homage watches are popular but when done properly modern design like this is what I like best.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
Earlier, Richard D described it as looking a bit industrial. I certainly thought that about the Apex and Concept models. I think this is much more attractive. Actually rather beautiful. It looks to be a fabulous watch and I’ve thought quite a bit about it.
Sadly I have come to the conclusion that I won’t be buying. I don’t see it as an everyday watch, so when would I wear it? I have the Tank and the C9SS for smart wear.
Also, it’s not a complication I would be desperate for, and the tiny subdial for the time (no seconds) is not for me. I don’t need another watch (who among us does, really?) The travel fund remains intact. I look forward to seeing some great pictures.
