Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
A lot of people are going to love it but was never going to be for me. Fascinating to look at and good luck to those who want one.

Yes, it has a modified JJ01 jumping hour movement.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
I first saw the Bel Canto back in October and I can honestly say I wish I hadn’t. It’s been frustrating reading all the posts knowing that not all expectations were to be realised, it’s not a minute repeater. It’s roots are in the CW JJ01 (SW-200 Mod).
My first impression was favourable, probably because I too was caught in the hype. That soon evaporate when the watch was handed to me, to put it simply the design is too ‘industrial’ for my liking. The website images are flattering, the blue dial is not as vibrant. The Bel Canto follows the Concept, beautifully executed but, IMHO, not attractive. The sub dial doesn’t help, the absence of a second hand, no logo and what I can best describe as an inaudible note doesn’t help. I could only hear it when pressed up to my ear. Pardon the pun, it doesn’t strike me as a dress watch. However, I wish CW every success and I’m sure the Bel Canto will receive favourable reviews.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
I think that is where I am.

Yes the striking hour is cool, but there is no way I would have bought it with a standard dial and the clever bit going on behind the scene.
A slightly similar look to a couple of the somewhat more famous Legacy Machine models.

Decided to forgo a pre-sale to get the full specs during launch. A bit disappointed that the dial isn't grand feu enamel as previously suggested at Wind Up and that the bracelet is grade 2 titanium not grade 5 given it's a $400 upgrade. I think I'll hold off on ordering for now.

I think it's very impressive and good-looking.

Just watched this right through... interestingly at the end, Mike France says "that they be forced to release a second colour dial variant"... so beyond the limited run of 300 blue dials, there may be more later

Of course, if it sells like hot cakes, other colour variants will be considered. They would be silly not to.

Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
As a technical achievement I’m quite impressed by this and the engineering behind it. As for a watch I’d actually buy and wear then it’s not for me. It is the CW hour chime version of the Meistersinger that was expected but with all the gubbins on show instead of hidden behind the dial. I’m sure owners will love it and it will be a talking point. The video on the website has a good tone to the chime as well.

Iain’s Law: Any discussion on the Christopher Ward forum, irrespective of the thread title or subject matter, will eventually lead to someone mentioning the Bel Canto if the thread continues for long enough.
Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
Although bizarrely, they never did with the C60 Concept, which also sold out in a few weeks

Exactly how I feel. I’m glad it exists but don’t need or want one.iain wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 2:34 pm As a technical achievement I’m quite impressed by this and the engineering behind it. Re: C1 Bel Canto Preview
From the images that I have just seen, it is a stunning watch. I like the direction to which CW is travelling.
Right now, like most of you I don't have £3k to drop on it.
If I did I would really consider doing so.
It's a shame the interest free credit doesn't extend to Ireland, nor the EU.
