C1 Bel Canto - Chime mechanism

Post by Andre Hacklebusch »

Hello together!

Two days ago I received my Bel Canto. It is a stunning watch. Joy was big. Untill, I found that the chime mechanism goes off one/two minutes too early...

I already contacted CW, but am still waiting for a response.

Hay anyone experienced something like this? Is there something I can do?

I guess I will have to send it back for service.

Kind regards
André

Welcome. Do please visit the Member Introduction section and tell us about yourself. 8)

The forum can’t really help, but other BC owners might have experienced a similar problem. Is it one minute, two or somewhere in between?

You were right to contact CS. Best to wait and see what response you get.

Welcome to the Forum, André, and I'm sorry to hear that you have an issue with your Bel Canto. Which version did you get?

As to it not chiming on the hour, there must be in excess of 1,500 pieces in circulation now (my estimate) and I have heard of this on only very few occasions. My two (Azzuro Blue LE, replaced by a Phoenix) have, fortunately, been perfect.

As has been suggested, you've done the right thing by contacting CW customer service. Do, please, let us know what response you get.

I seem to recall at least one other owner with a similar issue.
A trip to a service center and the issue will likely be resolved.
My chime sounds at the top of the hour.
Like most forums, you are only likely to get a small subset of owner experiences here.

I'd say that I don't ever recall here  what I'd regard as a "social media meltdown" response where suddenly everybody knows somebody whose next-door neighbour is friends with a guy who knows that this happens to every owner but there's a conspiracy of silence which is secretly funded by well, you get my drift.

You can rely on CW to sort this for you.

I make no claim as to knowledge of the mechanics of the Bel Canto movement. I do have some Sellita-driven watches in which the date change is off by a few minutes. As it is the date and that only changes once in the 24 hours being off by a little around midnight doesn’t bother me. I know a jeweler could fix them. An hourly chime that doesn’t strike on the hour, however, would bother me immensely. Contacting CW as you did is the best course to resolve it. Sorry it happened with your Bel Canto and hope it’s resolved quickly for you.

I have a short amount of experience with my BC. The cam is lined up perfectly with the 60 minute mark i'd say.

Hopefully CW can get your watch in a rectify asap.

I fear that everyone's good advice to the OP may be in vain. He posted 6 minutes after joining last Friday, then logged off 22 minutes later, and hasn't been seen again since.

Return for repair should hopefully fix it.

I've had 2 Bel Canto and 1 currently & they all run/ran perfectly.

PS: Hope seller still view the post withoug logging in.
