I think I will have one of these one day. Kids just started daycare so it might be a couple years though
Just remember everyone, The Sapphire dials on all of these type watches is clear with a coloured plastic disc over the top. You are not buying fancy coloured sapphire.

I was under the impression the black dial was smoked saphire, and the other colours had a polycarbonate disc to colour the dial ?

Ah ok, you may well be right regarding the smoked one and yes all the others have a plastic coloured disc over the top of the sapphire.

Both vey smart. I like the larger size of the C60, and the green ombre colour. It looks just the right level of distressed as well. but I would be happy to lose a bit of the 13.4mm thickness at a lower WR rating, and maybe the cost would be a little less as well.

The specs say:

“Smoked sapphire crystal dial with Christopher Ward at 12 o’clock
Smoked mineral crystal display caseback”

If the smoking is from a coloured wafer, then they should say that, so I tend to conclude that the crystal itself is smoked. Certainly worth clarifying before a purchase.

Having seen them in their entirety now, I won’t be buying one of these, but I am excited about the prospect of a bronze with green ombré C63 in the next release 🤞….

Buyers should remember the code 100LOUPE24 or their own currency equivalent gives the customary new launch discount.

I do get your point and definitely to each their own, i just wish the patina was a slower process sometimes. Maybe i am seeing falsely weathered watches but the likes of the Tudor watch seem to go green within a year which to me seems false.

My educated guess would be that the crystal is smoked.

On the C60 sapphire models, coloured polycarb is used to achieve the colours apart from on the black model, which CW has stated uses a smoked sapphire dial.

I'd assume that they've done the same with this black dial.

Bronze watches will only go (patinate) green if they are subject to 'corrisive' influences i.e. sweat or prolonged sea water.

Under normal circumstances they will merely go dull and flat.

The more I browse the pics, the more I love this watch! The smoked dial against a bronze case that will patina overtime looks surprisingly appealing to me. I like the idea of a modern feature juxtaposed against an “old metal” that will change over time.

I just live this!

Logo at 12 and no twin flags motif on either, is this a sea change moment for CW?

Both are very nice watches.

I know I started the thread on the Sealander but I prefer the C60.

But overall I still think i prefer the bronze ombre that's just gone out of stock. The C60 MK3 LE.

Now if this is prompting anyone to think of moving one on please do get in touch!

Quick question: on CW’s various bronze watches, are the hands and batons also bronze or simply bronze colored? If bronze, will they potentially patina?

Here is the Loupe article that discusses the process of producing the smoked sapphire.

Most do not have bronze hands, and the very expensive ones that do appear to take a very long time to patina. I would not count on the hands ever matching the case unless it’s been opened and serviced quite a few times, which may be the situation if it’s an heirloom piece some day.

I really doubt they are bronze, however. We should ask CW.
