Bracelet Sizing question

I’m about to purchase my first CW and want to have it sized by them so I don’t have to bother with it. From personal experience, does anybody know if they size the bracelet with the micro-adjust fully tightened, fully loosened, or somewhere in the middle?

To be honest from the limited info on the forum I think they just go by length and do whatever it takes to get there. Welcome! You could always give it a go yourself. It isn't as complex as it seems out of the gate. Just take your time and make sure you have the correct tools. After that it is a snap. There are a few threads on here for resizing bracelets (even the newer 2 screw models) with lots of pointers.

Interesting, I would hope they’d get the requested size just by removing links, that way the micro-adjust is fully usable in both directions to account for changes in wrist size throughout the day and in different weather.

When I first bought a CW bracelet, quite some time ago, I had CW resize it. It was done correctly to my requested size and was done with the micro-adjust fully closed, i.e. it could only be expanded.

Recently, for reasons that are not pertinent to this thread, I ordered a watch and requested CW to resize the bracelet. It arrived incorectly sized and I suspect the 1cm discrepancy was due to half links now being in most, if not all, bracelets.

In you situation where you require it sized to a median position within the micro-adjustment range I personally would not ask CW to do it. I would do it myself but appreciate that others do not have the tools/experience/nerves to do so.

CW charge £10 for a bracelet resize that possibly might not arrive to your satisfaction. I'm would guess that for not much more you could take it into a local jewellers where they would do it for you to your exact specification.

I decided to go ahead and email CW for an official response, and they replied “We would set it in the middle when your watch is resized and sent out. I hope that helps.”

Well hopefully they get this sorted out quickly. A free resizing service providing in accurate bracelets would be irritating enough, let alone when customers are paying extra for it!

To be fair, they do change it if it isn't right.

Very useful on a bracelet with pins, but I (later) found the screw links on current models are super easy to DIY.

I initially took my C63 Sealander to a jeweller (I live in the US) but they couldn't do it so I ordered a watch toolkit of Amazon. I tried to unscrew the links but it was impossible. Having to hold both sides of the bar with a screwdriver means needing tremendous dexterity but also two very small screwdrivers.

I'll go to a specialist watch repair shop so fingers crossed but this is a really frustrating system!

What was the main issue? Screws too tight?

Did you or your jeweller warm the bracelet, I put it in a plastic bag and dunk it in a bowl of hot water, to soften and release the loctite/ thread locker?

If you order your bracelet sized, does it still come with all the removed links, so in the future you'd be able to put them back into the bracelet if you feel the need to?

Yes; it should do. The spare links and pin/collar or screws are enclosed in a little black envelope.
