Bespoke 3/6/9 Sandhurst

Post by nycWATCHnerd »

After reading a few threads about CW Bespoke I checked out the website and found this. I am surprised CW has not made this a stock piece.

Anybody interested in a bespoke 3/6/9 Sandhurst as shown in the picture below (but without the logo on the bottom of the dial)?

That looks more like a variation of a C65 Sandhurst , as opposed to a Dune.

There are no blob markers, indicative of a Dune.

I was about to call it an Aquitaine because I thought they all use the same case.

^^^^ Dune and Sandhurst use the same 38mm case. Aquitaine is 41mm, case shared with the Dartmouth.

A quick check in the Bespoke section of the CWArchive .

I like the idea of this kind of Sandhurst variant. As I’m already in the queue for the C65 Azure proposal and I have both a Sandhurst Mk1 and the Vintage Mk2 I don’t feel I can rationalize another that is so similar. Yet I already covet it - even just the idea of it. :D

Ditch the faux vintage lume and it might look even better. It would then be very similar to a Sinn 556, but half the price.

I love the idea of a 3,6,9 (12) CW watch but I think the Sealander is a better model to use for it.

I may contact Bespoke to find out how much work would be involved on my part to get this going. And, if you ever want to part with your Azure allocation I would gladly take it off your hands. I am sure we could figure out something with Customer Service: charge me and refund you.

I don't want to make a clone of another company's watch because that is what AliExpress is for.

There is only so much one is allowed to do (read the current bespoke thread) and I remember the person who did the Azure bespoke watch stated he had to use the standard hands with faux lume so it made sense to keep the faux lume on the dial for "dial symmetry".

Why?

And there already is a 3/6/9 contemporary style bespoke project named the C63 Atlantis so I though it made sense to do something different.

Why the Sealander? Sorry, I should have written that a Bespoke 3,6,9 being based on the Sealander is just my personal preference as I prefer the overall look and size of the Sealander to that of the Sandhurst or Dune.

My comments on the initial post on this thread was purely me writing my personal view to answer the question asked i.e. "Anybody interested in a bespoke 3/6/9 Sandhurst as shown in the picture below (but without the logo on the bottom of the dial)?" as I thought I might give some helpful feedback.

I'm aware that the Atlantis is based on the Sealander and have read and commented on that thread.

Best of luck to anybody considering initiating any bespoke order.

I appreciate the feedback.

I think it depends on whether you prefer the 36mm or 39mm Sealander. While the Dune platform is 38mm (and I prefer larger watches for my almost 8" wrist), I thought it would be easier to do a field/military inspired watch dial based on a watch CW already produces.

I am also trying to figure out a name for it as I would like to have it on the bottom dial area just above the 6. I have not yet been truly inspired but thought about a few "field style" names for the watch:
- Excursion (Ford had an SUV/truck named the Excursion)
- Quest
- Safari
- Tourer
- Trekker (though Raven watches may not be happy as they have a Trail Trekker)
- Voyager (MVMT and Phoibos both have a Voyager)

So far I am leaning towards Quest or Safari but am open to other options. Maybe keep it simple and call it "Field".

Then my mind went into overdrive and I thought about designing a collection of three watches:
Land (not Field) - as shown/mentioned above
Sea - Dartmouth v2 base but black dial, black bezel, and white lettering.
Air - Aquitaine based GMT watch, military drab green dial and bezel, faux lume lettering, orange GMT hand

I really like it! A bit of a Railmaster vibe.

Of the names above, I like Quest. Could also suggest…
-Pathfinder
-Traveler
-Surveyor (Couldn’t help it!, but Bulova might frown)
-Cairn
-Guide
-Peregrine

Would anybody be able to agree on the spelling of Traveller/Traveler to put it on the dial? :D :problem:

Using the C63 Valour as the only example I can find off the top of my head, I’d say CW would probably default to traveller as the British spelling.

However, a US user commissioning a bespoke might well argue against.

My first thing I though when I saw the photos above was Ranger. :D
