Heard the Chime yet?

You'll only hear it with the Birdie's beak and tail in the 'Chime on' position; not wishing to teach Grandmother to suck eggs.

Thanks very much
Yes, I was staring at some of the details and noticed by birdy's beak was pointed down
A click of the pusher and the position was moved up to the squiggly line
The chime is soft and mild, I'll take it
Going to have to get a loupe to enjoy more of the elements, especially around and below the hour markers

Between 0 and 22 minutes, you can hear the chime at will, by pressing the button twice.

@Grand Seiko

Yup; apologies about my previous post. I was writing it as you wrote and posted yours, which I didn't see until after.

Clearly you've sorted the Chime mechanism now.

To my mind, I've owned an Azzuro Blue Bel Canto, the chime has a lovely 'ting' to it.

When you're wearing the watch sometimes you hear it, sometimes you don't, depending on ambient noise and what you may, or may not, be doing at that precise moment. I kind of feel that you often hear it when you least expect it.

Ting is the perfect word for the sound
I noticed I set the hour incorrectly and got a nice series of tings as I brought the watch to the correct time
As much as I have been grousing, they did the right thing in holding a high quality standard for the finishing
I would also say the packaging design/presentation/materials were very enjoyable to see/experience

Fair play to you @Grand Seiko - you’ve reported your unhappiness with the delays and company communication, but you’ve also shared your positive experiences of the new watch. An authentic response throughout.

Hope you enjoy your magical new watch :)

Thank you for that
I like balanced information but can carry too much momentum when grumpy
We have just had such a bouncy ride, venting on the internet does help
I texted a picture to a friend (Rolex Guy) and he came right over to see it, and was completely enthralled
And of course I gave him the parlor trick ting for his efforts

Email just now:

Dear xy,

I just wanted to let you know that your new Bel Canto will be with you slightly later than we had anticipated. Crafting the Bel Canto has been a real labour of love and has taken longer than we anticipated to deliver the numbers on order whilst ensuring we never compromise quality. We’re there now, but your watch has suffered a small delay for which I apologise.

Best,
Mike

OK, at least they communicated and apologized
But without a reliable time frame included their effort is scored as coming up short
Sorry about this ongoing experience

Any deliveries to anyone..?

Last week I had an update saying that my watch is due in early this week and I should have the link to pay the remaining balance before. Needless to say, after chasing yesterday, the watch is still not in and no date of when it comes.

There was some issue with making the payment on line
Once that was done, my watch was shipped and received pretty quickly

Hello CW enthusiast,
It's my first post and I don't know how I missed news on the Bel Canto. I probably thought "another unaffordable independent watchmaker..." and skipped. Small mistake repaired tonight as after a couple of hours hesitating between viola and cielo, I just ordered the latter. Due in July...
It's going to be a long wait but it happened that I've been looking for a moonphase without date for long (Cartier almost got me) and a grail watch of mine is the Midnight in Paris, by Can Cleef. So you see this is all going...
No order yet. I resist but the picture of the month doesn't help! and it's deliverable in December....

It looks like Rosa (gold) and Cielo (sky blue) models are starting to slowly trickle out by the handful. I’ve yet to see a single photo, post, or comment about anyone even seeing a purple or black model in the wild though, let alone receiving one.

Maybe the buyers of those colours are not Social Media types.

Not every watchbuyer frequents Social Media.

An anecdotal statistic I recall from some years ago is that members of the CW Forum accout for less than 2% of CW customers.

It’s possible. But for a digital-first brand to have zero on CW forum, zero on Reddit, zero on instagram (so far as I can tell from a search), zero on tiktok (as far as I can tell from a search), zero on C24, zero on eBay, and zero on WUS would seem to indicate that it’s more likely they’re not yet shipping these models to the public, than that there’s a secret cadre of silent recipients.

You’re right that not every watchbuyer frequents social media, but even that phrasing indicates that we know that some do. And if there were 100 watches delivered, I think it’s likely that at least one of those 100 recipients would mention it or post a photo on social media.
