Your sentiment is appreciated and understood @iain and I trust you will allow me to cross the 't's and dot the 'i's on what you've written.

To date there have been;-

2 x 300 piece LE Bel Cantos, Azzuro Blue and Verde Green, both Sold Out in a matter of hours and 4 x open series Bel Cantos; details may be found in the CWArchive Both LE pieces have now been delivered to customers, with the open series versions in the pipeline.

Buyers of the LEs paid in full as a regular order.

Buyers of the 4 x Open Series, as delivery dates were expected to be protracted, paid a £1,000 refundable deposit, with the balance expected to be paid when the watch was ready for delivery.

However there is the gold one highlighted for sale a few posts above, which does seem to have jumped the queue at the expense of buyers of the standard colours. I accept this might not be the case but as an outsider looking in it is how I see it, and I suspect is how those voicing their frustrations here also see it.
There have been, to date, three Bespoke Edition Bel Cantos brought to fruition which are, in chronological order;-

Watches@ - the "gold one" you've highlighted (resale). Inception of the project was in February this year and completed watches are currently filtering through to customers.

Bel Canto Phoenix
- car enthusiasts, McLaren inspired edition. Sold out within 24 hours in May this year. Delivery anticipated Spring '24.

WYRD - Released mid September '23 with "Only two spots left for the Wyrd edition, from what I've heard" on September 30th. Delivery ??

These three Bespoke editions, despite the long pre-order phase have been paid for in full by buyers.

At the recent visit to CW Towers by the Forum Admin Team, matters around the Bel Canto were naturally discussed, with CW being at pains to emphasise that there has been no queue jumping and the 3 x Bespoke Edition Bel Cantos have been slotted into production schedules chronologically.

Watches@

Finally, for those contributors to this thread waiting on their Watches@ Bespoke Edition, as suggested by @welshlad please feel free to contact Mike France @ CW to get a direct response on the expected delivery date of your order; although I would have expected that the instigators of this Bespoke Edition within Wathces@ would have been keeping you in the loop (as I know @JasH has for the Bel Canto Phoenix).

@Bahnstormer_vRS Thanks Guy for the clarification. You obviously have a greater insight than I do.

However when managing expectations, it is often about perceptions that people have when they don’t have the full picture.

I would urge CW to get a grip on this, as this thread can’t be turning into a comfortable read for them.

The Wyrd has an expected delivery around June 2024, so that tracks completely with the newer LEs being produced in the same order as the normal editions.

The Watches@ edition clearly skipped the normal queue though.
I made a reservation for a normal purple version before the Watches@ was possible to order for the public (made it back in February 2023) and my release schedule was April 2024, while the Watches@ are being delivered now.

Accept your point BUT, (rhetorical question) when you place your order, what was the expected pre-order date, as there were likely a number of orders for the purple one ahead of you in the queue? :-k :-k

As additional information my order is for purple. First placed in Dec 2022, original delivery date given was June 2023, revised date is now October 2023. If the Watches edition started in Feb 2022 and orders are now filtering through to customers, then yes - they were placed into the queue non-chronologically, and ahead of prior orders.

Just received a confirmation that my Cielo order is still on track for delivery this month.
It was initially June, delayed to August then October.

No update on my Phoenix yet, apart that Jas has requested CW for some changes to the dial colour but yet to receive a new dial. (super detailed update from Jas btw!)

Well everyone,
As much as I cherished the discussion on CW's lack of communication to us, I must inform everyone that I have received emails indicating that my order has been given a delivery date of October 9-12.
It has been a journey thus far and I do agree that more communication throughout this process would have placated many voices.
There is light at the end of the dimly lit tunnel.

February 2023 - Order placed, 1st delivery date given was July 31, 2023
May 1, 2023 - Sent mail regarding status, hadn't heard anything yet but still told delivery date is July 2023
August 1, 2023 - The dreaded "Bel Canto Journey has been delayed" email, 2nd delivery date given - end of Sept. 2023
September 30, 2023 - Still haven't heard anything, message sent to CW asking for update
October 6, 2023 - 1st email letting me know watch is undergoing final QC and will be dispatched very soon; 2nd email let me know my order dispatched and delivery date range.

Look, we all know our watches will appear at some point.
Unfortunately this well run forum is being used in some part to express displeasure with how CW is managed.
Back to the LEs, knowing the poor quality and low resale associated with the McLaren brand (albeit with excellent driving characteristics) who would want the Phoenix?

It is not a McLaren x Christopher Ward colab. It's a Bel Canto with an eye-catching colour combination that happen to be the same colour that Jas's McLaren. It also comes with 2 extra leather straps even if ordered with bracelet, which is pretty good imo.

Thanks for these pics, the strap version with the orange stitching is killer
Volcano orange is a great color but it's metallic with clear coat
Hard to believe the watch face, sunburst, non metallic, no clear coat will look close to the car's paint

It's impossible to match actual Volcano Orange paint, which is multilayered, on a watch dial. But it's certainly possible to get reasonably close.

Volcano Orange isn't actually a classic metallic by the way. It's a silver base with multiple layers, including metal flakes (as you suggest), and multiple colour dyes in the clear layers. It's too complex to do on a watch, but you can get close to the colour and then mimic the "volcano" effect via sunray brushing.

Watch render, which is now in the public domain hence I am sharing it here. Note, it's a render, not a physical watch, of which only a pre-production prototype sample currently exists and is surprisingly close to the car. The production watches will be delivered in 2024.

Thanks for those additional pics
I wish McLaren had a QC department
Their cars are so cool but the company is so clueless
The recent story I loved was the person gets a shiny new Artura and is craps out after 2 miles
Then someone like their US President does a YouTube interview saying how important Quality is to them

Taking this discussion back to the initial post. I’m on the fence about the texture of the dial. The champagne color would work better in a gold case. I KNOW IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE. But, if CW wants to make a mark in the next level up, IMO, gold would be the ticket. And I’m not talking about gold plated. Believe me, with the stir the Bel Canto has made in the watch world, it would sell. Too bad it wasn’t offered as an option during the initial release.
Let the discussion ensue.
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…
