Bel Canto Phoenix

Post by JasH »

I am delighted to report that CW have agreed that I can share 1 image of the prototype Phoenix publicly.

Please note that this is a pre-production prototype on loan to me, and is the only watch in existence at present. It is also not accurately representative of the final production watch.

Note that the 99 limited bespoke watches are expected in late Q1 2024. The project actually commenced in December 2022 i.e. that's when I commenced discussions with CW. So we are certainly not queue jumping other Bel Canto customers.

Please don't contact Christopher Ward to request a Phoenix, as these sold out immediately on release, over six months ago.

I also attach a youtube video which appeared today, as it shows me wearing this prototype. Richard, of RichReviews, also wore the same watch for his parts to camera.

If anyone is at the Planetarium for the moonphase launch, I will be there wearing this watch if you wish to see it in real life.

Amazing orange sunburst. I would say that’s the most appealing variant I’ve seen.

Are all the watches allocated to owners of that specific vehicle in that colour?

Edit: well worth watching the video too for serious car-envy. I would guess now the answer to my question about the colour is a resounding ‘no’.

Thank you for your comments, and I am happy to hear you liked the watch, and also enjoyed the car review video

Yes indeed, you answered your own question  The colour is too rare, so the primary allocation was to those with a McLaren. Then to my supercar club members.

But I also managed to allocate a few to those enterprising individuals who tracked me down via my car's instagram :D

Thanks so much for sharing!
A very interesting variation of the Bel Canto indeed.
The car is clearly fabulous.

Now if I can only find a watch with a Turmeric Yellow dial to match my Golf :)

I am pleased to report that CW have agreed that I can share 2 further images of the prototype Phoenix publicly.

Those with an allocation will already have received a much more detailed update today.

Amazing color on the watch and car (the car must be crazy fun).
Thoroughly enjoyed the video (well, except the guy's grammar issues regarding uniqueness, something is or isn't, no qualifiers apply).
I was in a paid focus group recently and a guy with a 720S was talking about upgrading to a 750S. He was very transparent about the issues with the company (**** quality, **** resale, lousy customer service, plus others) and said flat out the driving experience overcomes the issues.

Notice how much easier it is to read the time where the hands have been coloured black or dark blue in the photos above.
Does the McLaren come free with the watch?

I am the only one who doesn’t get the appeal of the BelCanto? If I am I must be missing something?

I’m sure you are not. I’ve seen them, tried them on, played around with the chime, and put them down again. Don’t get me wrong, they are lovely but my brain didn’t hit the Must Buy Now button.

I’m slightly the same with the moonphase watches. They are all beautiful and I’m sure the next one will be stunning, but the problem for me is that they don’t represent accurately what the moon looks like, because they only show it as a constant crescent. That, as they say, would do my head in.

I’ve learned to admire without desire.

Admire without desire is an excellent description of watches I don’t want to buy.
