Sorry, I'm new here. What's a Bel Canto? Do I have to own one to post here? I think this should have been in the forum rules when I signed up. Please don't ban me.

Let me start off by stating that the "Banned" avatar was issued after the banning and after FarmerGiles made his last post. It retroactively gets attached to all posts that have made by the banned member.

The Admin Team thought we should update the inmates as to what happened here as we have many new members that may not be familiar with the story. FarmerGiles has quite a history here (see chart below). He once again has tried to make a fool of the forum members and, of course, The Admin Team. Once again his guerilla tactics and attempts at deception have failed.

This person, regardless of what name you call him, has proved to be unstable, in my opinion, and has no place here.

We do not arbitrarily ban people because we do not agree with their point of view. Please see the thread here for a bit of an explanation.

Rule 3.3 of our Rules and Etiquette prohibit misrepresentation. As you can see by the chart below, This member, FarmerGiles, has continually registered on this forum and represented himself each time as someone new. Under the guise of a fan of CW, using multiple methods of deception he once got as far as offering a watch for sale until we found our proof. Regardless of how quickly we spot this continual impostor, we do not act until we have absolute proof of who he is. We also have proof that he will likely try again.

We have never discussed publicly the reasons for the initial banning, nor do we intend to, but the initial banning was permanent. Subsequent banning's have been for misrepresentation.

We promise, we shall, with the continued watchful eyes of you, our fellow inmates, remain vigilant.

Thanks to all the members who have helped us along the way.

Wow, banned 7 years ago and still won’t let it go.
Iain’s Law: Any discussion on the Christopher Ward forum, irrespective of the thread title or subject matter, will eventually lead to someone mentioning the Bel Canto if the thread continues for long enough.

Wow! What a peculiar individual. I feel a bit daft now as this pot-herb actually PM’d me about the heavy-handed approach towards him as a ‘new and eager’ member. I took the time to reassure him that all was good and fair on here and to stick around! I’m a bit gutted now if I’m honest.
Many thanks to Kip and the mods for all that they do in this place. I’m going to have to have a pint today now.

I think he’s caught me a few times. He’s usually asking for advice and I naively wade in and give him the benefit of my thoughts….he’s not PM’d me though.

I’ve read about his exploits before and I still genuinely can’t see what he is trying to achieve when he returns. His head must be a strange place to live.

Salutary lesson learned, sadly. I was aware that our membership may have had a bounce with newbies post-Bel Canto and I was merely suggesting to this chap to stick around as this was a great ‘community.’ He had intimated that he had heard that the mods here were unfriendly and heavy-handed. I assured him that this was not the case and that he should be patient and stay onboard. In light of Kip’s last post I can only conclude that this individual is not only odd but a tad devious.
Anyway, I’m retitling my holiday memoirs now…does ‘Gullible’s Travels’ sound appropriate?

Many thanks as always to Kip and all the Moderators.

Being one of Madjam's main protagonists over the years I am saddened to admit that I dropped my guard on this reincarnation.

Many thanks to all those members who texted me in support.

Some people are weird, I know Kip said they didn’t intend to say why he was banned in the first place but would it be beneficial if members knew why? To try to understand his continued attempts to rejoin the forum? Or we could just have a game ‘which members Martin?’

With respect, Richard, I don’t think it would. You will have to trust us on this one. As other team members and I have said before, the best thing our members can do if they have any suspicions about a member or a post is to report that post and/or send a PM to the Admin Team. It’s actually much more helpful and discreet than speculation on the open forum.
