Me too. I could only think of April Fool, so I had to look it up, and it's a convoluted one. I'll explain it my trouble later on in the jam jar on the way home.Kansas City Milkman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 6:05 pm![]()
"April"? @TheBeatles I get Cockney, just not that one. I bet it's good though
Surely it's only wasting forum time if you engage with it? If he's banned he can't post. He can, presumably, see without signing in.cincfleet wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 8:44 pm OMG. moderators please delete this pointless thread. The member had a private message as to the reason, but he now posts with an avatar that says "Banned". It is wasting forum time, and those that visit just for updated interesting info, this is no ttt interesting.

It certainly has possibilities![]()
Drum isn't rhyming slang - it refers to getting into a house that was as 'tight as a drum'. It's usage was amongst burglars!JAFO wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:37 pmMe too. Also, why is a "drum" a home,? Is that cockney? It says drum and bass, but it's been a home before drum and bass was a thing, surely. I'll cock my titfer for the answer.
The term 'Drum', meaning house, is derived from the pre-1960's where criminals would knock on doors in order to find out which houses were empty. As anyone who has done house clearances will know an empty house has a distinguishable echo too it when the door is knocked. These characters were known as 'drummers'. It is NOT rhyming slang, nor is it derived from the term 'Drum & Bass' because that particular music was only really conceived in the early to mid 90's and the term 'Drum' has been widely used since many decades ago, even in sitcoms such as Steptoe and Son.BobMunro wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 11:33 pmDrum isn't rhyming slang - it refers to getting into a house that was as 'tight as a drum'. I'm finding it hard to resist someting, I have an urge to post just "Bel Canto" on every thread.
Please don’t Steve, I’m genuinely sick to death of that bloody thing. I can’t even bring myself to type the name.
I find it a bit peculiar that this chap is banned, given an avatar to illustrate the same…and then is able to post. Unless there is a system glitch? It’s all getting a bit messy and unnecessary imho. Time to move on.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 8:05 pmNo need to correct you Andrew.jkbarnes wrote: A mod can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they change the avatar to that when someone is banned. Honestly, I’m surprised this thread isn’t locked.
The 'Banned' Avatar is used exclusively by the Admin Team when it is found sadly necessary to, well? Ban a forum member (which doesn't happen that often).
