Bader bracelet issue

Post by aseriesoftubes66 »

Hi All,

Just last week I received my first CW watch, a C63 Sealander GMT on a Bader bracelet. I also purchased a hybrid rubber strap for good measure. I absolutely LOVE the watch! I love the look of the Bader bracelet, and the adjustability is fantastic. I am able to get a perfect fit. The problem I'm having, however, is that the edges of the bracelet seem somewhat sharp. Not so sharp that it's going to cut my skin, but sharp enough that over a short period of time on my wrist, it becomes very uncomfortable. I own, and have owned, a number of watches over the years, and I've never experienced this. All of my other bracelets have just enough of a bevel (if that's the right term) on the edges, that makes them feel smooth, and easy to wear. The Bader on my C63 just feels like it wasn't quite finished. I found a recent reddit post where the user was comparing an older Bader to a newer one, and among other things, one of his complaints about the newer Bader was that its edges were "sharp." I'm wondering if this is a known issue. Any input would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I don’t have a new Bader bracelet, but I’m sure someone will come along shortly with an answer to your question.

@aseriesoftubes66 I wonder if you might need to wear your bader bracelet slightly looser than you are used to? It's hard to imagine how an unfinished bracelet would get through to a customer.

I actually do wear my bracelets a little on the loose side, already. And not to say that the bracelet is truly unfinished. It looks very nice, and any sort of visual inspection would not have resulted in a rejection of the item. Even minimal handling probably would not have resulted in it being rejected. It's something that requires closer inspection. But imagine holding a cooking knife in one hand, and then moving your thumb gently and very lightly across the blade from side to side(not up and down it). There's sort of scraping sensation. This is the only thing I can compare it to. Obviously that's an extreme example, and it's nowhere near as sharp as a cooking knife, but there is a similar scraping sensation when I do that on the edges of the bracelet. Again, no bracelet I own, or have ever owned, has that feeling.

A 90° edge can be very sharp indeed, easily enough to cut through skin. It's possible that the edge has quite a small radius, which can feel sharp, but won't cut. The edge of the clap on my 12Ti rubber strap is quite abrupt. Not hazardous, but would not be comfortable against skin.

I am terrible at taking pictures  And to be honest, I'm not totally sure that what I'm describing could even be captured in photos. It's really something that needs to be felt. BUT, I will see if a can grab a photo or two for the forum's viewing pleasure.
