RLT is another independent watch forum on the net he also services watches and in my experience is a very decent honest chap. Chances are you can send it off or e-mail him and ask for a price unlike some places where its just send it off with your cash and hope for the best.

I mention this because to my knowledge CW only service their own watches they recommend sending back for a service after 5 years so I would assume its the same for any watch. Anything less than that I would guess there is a problem with the watch.

If it doesn't' fall to the bottom that means it trying to turn against the tension of the main spring and which also means it's done its job, keeping the main spring wound up. Quit normal to see that and it's what you want to see.
