Re: Aquitaine in a word
Niceish!
(I imagine that mf is going to be quite gutted at the general lukewarm reception this release has received as he clearly thought (as did everyone at cw towers) that this was a real biggy 'nicest watch we have ever made' kind of a moment.

Cheers now, Paul

Re: Aquitaine in a word
I think a great many of these terms could easily be applied to the first generation C65 Tridents. Do people feel the same about those? If not, what’s different?

Re: Aquitaine in a word
I was wondering whether I had made it up but apparently it does exist. It’s an extension of the word ambiguous, which tends to refer to something that can have two meanings. Polyguous, by extension, would be something that can have several meanings. I used it in a slightly different way, trying to suggest that it might be capable of provoking a lot of different emotions.
I thought it was appropriate because I’ve heard plenty of praise and plenty of criticism, and neither is universal. And different people seem to like or dislike different aspects of the watches. There are quite a few other words there that convey a similar meaning.

Re: Aquitaine in a word
I haven't bought a CW for a few years now, even though some releases have been really attractive and with a clear CW DNA. If I needed another diver or GMT then I would have pulled the trigger, especially the C63 GMT.
But! I have always coveted the Blancpain and it is one of my grails (if that can be said in plural!). For the first time for a CW I can't see past the Aquitaine as anything other than a homage to the FF and that is why, in the inimitable words of Duncan Ballantyne, I'm oot!
Time flies whether you're having fun or not. The choice is yours.

Divisive or contentious would have sufficed and both are legit.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 4:30 pmPolyguous, by extension, would be something that can have several meanings. Aye, but it’s a good word. Always seeking to expand the vocabulary.
