Any ideas as to who actually make CW watches?

Post by eggtronics »

Just curious... Who actually (in Switzerland) put the watches together and who make the hands, dials, cases etc?

Anybody have some insight into this? This has always interested me...

I always thought it was yodelling elves in little lederhosen and pointed felt hats (where they keep their tiny screwdrivers). Please don't disappoint me in any way by posting any information that would undermine this belief.

I agree with castle. Have you never read "The Elves and the Watchmaker"... where the little peeps come out on a night and put all the pieces together ? :)

It has been brought up before and with a bit of detective work you can find it.

Nobody here seems to know exactly but I imagine there are several affiliated companies who provide many small parts (less the movement) by specification. The case, bracelets and straps I'm sure all come from other sources and constructed by specifications provided by CW. The designs may be of his own or of the people he employs within the company and actual assembly I believe would be done by employees within his factory. I'm speculating, of course.
