@Amor Vincit Omnia to be honest Steve I can see a little at what Grand Seiko (the forum member, not the company) is aiming at with his comment.
Looks wise I can see a parallel, hard to read, lots of mechanical gubbins on show. However the cost is on another planet. I took the comment to be asking something along the lines of “Do you not like the Bel Canto because it’s a Bel Canto, bird and all, or is it just the style of watch you don’t like” or “Here’s something just as impressive but if you like this but not the BC, why?”
Unless I’m wide of the mark of course.
Another Bel Canto thread: this one's for the non-owners, the unbelievers

Iain’s Law: Any discussion on the Christopher Ward forum, irrespective of the thread title or subject matter, will eventually lead to someone mentioning the Bel Canto if the thread continues for long enough.

@iain It’s possible. I hadn’t looked at it that way.

Apologies as I did not provide sufficient context.
I feel some of the push back regarding the Bel Canto has legibility as an element of the personal opinions.
The Grand Seiko may have a similar issue (and that watch has i proponents and folks less in favor of it).
Yes between sticker price and ultra low production, the Grand Seiko is a unicorn, more about what the folks within the entity are capable of than fully serving a market.
I ordered a Bel Canto as I like it for it being different, plus I like birds.

I loved the GS the moment I laid eyes on it. Same with the BC.
Now if I can have that GS for even 20x the price of BC, I'd have it in a heartbeat
Legibility is a non-issue for these watches.
I suspect some here would find legibility a fatal flaw in my favourite watch in my collection too.

But Bel Canto beats my AP in audio
