Advice on Makaira Accuracy please

Post by Andyshall »

I have noticed a few threads on the accuracy of various models and mechanisms but I wondered what sort of accuracy members are getting from the Makaira ?

I have worn mine all day, every day since Christmas Day and it seems to be gaining approx. 15 or more seconds a day.

I have owned a dozen or so Automatics of various quality and they vary from only 1 or 2 seconds a day (Seamaster AT) but this is my first CW and I am curious what other Makaira owners are experiencing.

Mine gained about 30 seconds in the first three days, now seems to be stabilising. I've always given a new watch a week or so to get used to me and then checked the timekeeping.

Mine is running at approx +10/day, though thats just from casual observation, not accurate checking. Started off at around +15/day when it first arrived. Interestingly its the least accurate of my CWLs - my C60 runs at about +6/day and my C9FLE at about -2/day.

The movement in your watch is likely to be the Sellita SW 200 which is virtually identical to the acclaimed ETA 2824-2 and is capable of a very high and consistent level of accuracy. Your watch appears to be running within but at the outer level of CW specification. If it moves further out you may wish to ask CW to adjust it for you. They are very obliging and it will be returned plus/minus 5 secs a day or thereabouts.

Thanks very much for the contributions and advice - much appreciated.
It does seem to be getting a little better with wearing closer to +10 seconds now.
I will see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.
