A Wonderful Ward Weekend

Post by timepieces_and_bags »

Sorry, slightly long post. But I have spent a delightful weekend so far, not just with family, but with a few new additions to my watch family as well.

First, on Thursday the arrival of the C60 Chronograph #bumblebeast. I had posted on a few threads about this being my number one of the CWL 'back catalogue' but needed to make the plunge into pre-owned watches for the first time. One excellent transaction with Guy later, it arrived with visiting family. Resized today, I love this watch immediately. Yes it wears big, but not too big for my tastes. There's been enough on this Forum about the model that I probably need to say little further.

And then yesterday, a few days earlier than expected, arrived the first 'partial dispatch' of a larger order. Two of the C63 Sealander GMT 39mm:

Hunter Green on Camel Vintage Oak Leather (C63-39AGM3-S00V1-VC)

Then flipped around:

I LOVE the Dragonfly Blue color. Stunning in so many lights. The Hunter Green is also very smart and I'm a big fan of the scratched effect on the dial, but I think this will come alive a bit more in more wintry conditions than we have here today. My preferred watch/strap combinations of Dragonfly/Bader and Hunter/Leather remain the same, but the Dragonfly does look nicer on the Camel Leather than I had initially expected. I do have to say that with the Hunter Green I would prefer a slightly more 'vintage' look to the brown strap, so may have a search for something in addition in due course.

I also took advantage of the 3 for 2 straps offer. Two have arrived - one shown below, the other not shown as it's for watches that are on pre-order (and the third strap on pre-order itself). Below is the 22mm Black Hybrid Rubber with 316L Steel DLC (22-HYB-01-KXK-DC-ST), which I thought would be a great addition for the Bumblebeast but would also have a dual use on the C60 Lympstone.

LASTLY, a quick look at the current SOT(CWL)C. It has come on very quickly... five additions this year so far being the three watches shown above plus the C60 Pro 300 Bronze Blue Ombre and the C60 Atoll 300 Reef Blue.

Two more watches on pre-order and my CWL box will be complete. Henceforth I urge the company to produce watches loved by all except me. Thanks in advance CWL.

Pleased to see that your collection slimming is going well!

You now appear to have more CWs than you have Rolex/Omega. :)

You’re on a nice CW run! I agree the Camel strap looks great with the Dragonfly dial. I’ve toyed with a few options for the Hunter Green dial and agree that while the Camel is good, perhaps something with a little more character (maybe darker brown?) would be nicer. Here’s a couple of options that I’ve tried, CW Black Hybrid and dark brown racing leather….food for thought. Great CW collection!

That a lovely collection of Ward's, Michael. Lovely photos too, helped by the superb light. That dragonfly blue dial is glorious. How's the patination going with your C60 Pro 300?

Thanks Neil! Here’s what I wrote in November 2024:

I also have four CW's in my basket, and am trying to work out whether to reduce/remove, space them out in purchasing or simply take the plunge in the vain hope that I will be "done" by the end of 2024 and never buy a watch again...
OK, so I’ve ordered six but not four. But my CWL collection will be just about complete for the models I like. Totally wishful thinking that they won’t produce another watch I want to buy of course!

10 CWLs with 2 on pre-order. 11 ‘Romegas’. Hard to think I only had two CWLs when I posted my first SOTC in June or July 2024…

@UncleLoco - that dark brown strap is lovely, do you have details?

@strapline thanks Des. Patination on the bronze is fairly light at the moment (it’s been worn 8 times) but I’m definitely starting to notice it in places.

Looks really good.
Always hoping one day to be able to buy all the watches that interest me. For now I'll just work within my capacity and aim for one good watch ever year or 2
Kind Regards
John

@timepieces_and_bags Here’s a link to the strap…
https://depancel.com/en-us/products/lea ... brown-20mm
It’s become one of my favorites and gets time on several watches. Enough so that I might get another with a different buckle option.

Side note… I enjoy your instagram… learned that handbags are cool, too! Lovely pics.
